Not at all a surprise. TBH, the only reason why I even knew that this movie existed is because of all of the posts on Tigerdroppings making fun of it.

Apparently they started making this movie way back in 2016. What a massive flop. The movie is projected to lose more than $115 million.

Even Disney knew this, but that company basically prints money so they’re probably like oh well. I know their earnings report was very good recently.

I don't think that Disney would have made this film if they knew ahead of time it would flop so badly. I guess that in theory, they could have thought the movie would be a "loss leader" that would get woke parents to watch other Disney movies, but I don't think that's very likely.
And didn't some woke people actually get pissed off at the movie's portrayal of dwarves? They didn't even end up doing a good job at satisfying woke people.

It should've been a massive hit, but those leaked pictures of the bandits started a run of just nothing but bad press for the film. Then Zegler went full retard and the rest is history.

Even if you get past the political anger around the film (anti-woke people being pissed off at the film and some woke people supposedly getting pissed off at the film too), there is a widespread consensus that it's a flat out terrible movie. Just look at the reviews of the people who actually paid to see the movie.

How much better would it have really done without RZ's antics, though? The movie is fricking ghastly looking and the Snow White girl boss is maybe the dumbest of all the girl bosses. The Kristin Stewart one was okay but this is just low quality garbage, top to bottom.

No doubt. I saw it and it's completely forgettable. But even a good film wouldn't have made much of a difference. Presales were terrible even before reviews came out

Originally they did have actual little people. But then people like Peter Dinklage complained and they switched to the diverse bandits and finally to the CGI
But yeah they kind of annoyed everyone for a movie no one wanted
