Notre Dame long term opponent

With USC dropping them(pussies), If ND were seeking an opponent for a long term series on their schedule and really wanted it to be an SEC team, would you like LSU to agree?
This would be a rotating opponent home and home for the next 8 years or so. It wouldn’t be just a typical OOC game for LSU and would likely need to be sandwiched in the middle of SEC play for us. Perhaps a season finale like ND-USC was.

I would not agree to anything long term until they know the CFP selection criteria, how many auto bids would come from the SEC and how many SEC games will be on the schedule moving forward, 8 or 9.

Oh let’s just go ahead and assume SEC goes to 9.

frick that. That would be throwing a bone allowing them to still look legitimate without being tied to a conference. Notre Dame needs to shite or get off the pot. It's time to join a conference. No other team that is afforded the status of contender gets to build their schedule the way ND does. Their cultivated schedules against middle of the pack power 5 year in and year out give them an unfair advantage in making the playoff. Would love to see them navigate an SEC, BIG10, or even a full ACC schedule each year.

We are about to go to a 9 SEC schedule and you want to add Notre Dame? Should we call the Philadelphia Eagles next?

Oh yay. I want this twice each year for LSU football.

Too many wusses in the fan base would complain about it being too tough of an out of conference opponent.

If there is a 9 game SEC schedule, I would think not. If we stay at 8, would not be a bad idea but I can think of other opponents that I would like to play OOC every year.

I would NOT give ND any scheduled advantage period !

Oh let’s just go ahead and assume SEC goes to 9.
3 conference losses plus any OOC loss would mean no playoffs ever at 8-4

The schedule is tough enough already. I will be glad when we are finished with the Clemson game. We do not need to start each year with elite opponents; it leaves virtually no margin for error.

If we go to 9 SEC, no. If not, why not?
Love the games that are exciting, and ND would definitely be that, unlike NE ??, Samford or Jax State.

Not to make this a strictly Notre Dame thread but, the ACC is hanging on by a thread right now. If Notre Dame would stop with their entitled stance on being independent and became a full fledged member of the ACC that conference would immediately be in a better position as a power 4 (3?) conference.
If the Big12 can continue to build moment and the ACC stay intact it would be cool to have 9 game in conference schedules across the power 4 with the remaining 3 games against teams from the other 3 conferences as dictated by inter-conference agreements.

You are too self-absorbed. Notre Dame would not agree to that for many reasons.

Notre Dame just agreed to a 12-game series with Clemson

It's easy for you to call out the fans for being concerned about the players when you're at home on your couch slamming down beers and eating cheez balls out your belly button.

Because CFB now is about the playoff. They killed the bowl games.
The goal each season needs to be in the post season tournament to give yourself a chance to play for a title, like baseball and basketball.
I am in favor though of just moving the bowl season to Labor Day weekend though. Bowls and sponsors can extend invitations to teams and they can accept or decline.
