Still no inkling as to when this game will release. Maybe they're waiting for the next-gen consoles

Todd admitted in an interview he regrets announcing that as early as they did.

I think there's a 0% chance Elder Scrolls VI releases on current gen.

They should do a ESVI & Winds of Winter combo package

Would that be 2 generations without a new Elder Scrolls?

Yes which is pathetic and quite honestly unacceptable

Starfield and the success of ESO has pushed this way to the right.

Isn’t ESO a mess? I tried playing on my PS5 a couple years ago and it looked like a PS3 game with 20 FPS

It's actually in really good shape, they continue to release content on it, and it's generally considered one of the top MMO's on the market. I can't speak for it's performance right now, but ESO is a bit point of emphasis for Bethesda.

Bethesda figuring out that ESO and FO76 content makes money has really slowed their single player developments to a crawl.

They were fairly fun games, but nothing I felt the need to keep playing. FO76 got super repetitive and was always really glitchy.

I don't know why anyone would care or even have this game on their radar following starfield.
Oblivion doesn't count either. Remake made by another studio

Because Starfield is, in my opinion, a one off, the scope of the universe they went with required procedurally created content, and a lot of that wasn't good. There is a genuinely good Bethesda experience to be had, but it's almost impossible to find. I think they'll go big with VI but, and I hope I'm right, they won't need to go that same route and we'll get the handcrafted content.
Starfield isn't my favorite, but I still have close to 200 hours in it and will occasionally jump back in, so I'm not ready to write Bethesda off yet. They have two more games left where I'll keep caring, this and the next Fallout, after that it won't really matter to me.

in fairness - this is literally creating an entire world with 3d landscape and a unique population of interactive characters
I called the city about one streetlight out on my block 7 years ago and i'm still waiting

It's trendy to hate on Bethesda. Don't you know, their entire game design philosophy is outdated because NPCs don't move during dialogue like in Cyberpunk 2077?
Starfield is literally space Daggerfall. People act as if Daggerfall is one of the greatest games of all time, but it's 95% randomly generated content.
I think if you are the type of Bethesda playing who likes to, for example, pick a direction and just go there, seeing what kind of trouble you get to along the way, Starfield doesn't exactly scratch that itch. The randomly generated content wasn't a bad idea, but there weren't enough parts thrown into the blender.
It's hard to argue though that you don't literally trip over mountains upon mountains of side quests just by "playing the game." There's a lot of content on offer with Starfield. You just access it in a different way.

I loved Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout 4 and thought Cyberpunk was okay. Didn’t care for Starfield at all

I think that's what he was implying. Starfield should have made people lose their faith in Bethesda to create an interesting game.
