My husband and I went to Spahr's downtown about a year ago and still talk about the sauteed crab fingers.

I haven't been down that way in a long time but I always enjoyed Fremin's

May want to check the hours because I don't think they were open every day or might not even have lunch anymore for all I know.

Was one of my favorite restaurants in the Houma/Thib metro area when I lived there.

Is that the Mexican joint that throws a big parking lot party on Cinco de Mayo where they serve booze to practically all ages?

Of course…that was like 20 years ago, so maybe the Thibodaux police have cracked down on that since.

Finer dining in this order:

1. Cuvee - better food, solid cocktails
2. Cinclaire - better cocktails, decent food depending on the menu
3. Fremins - classic good food and cocktails

Causal Dining:

1. Big Mike's BBQ
2. Spahrs
3. Gina's at the Legion
4. Jabby's Pizza
5. Geaux Fish

Alumni Grill
Willow Cafe

Not a restaurant, but Bougeois Meat Market if you want boudin/jerky/hog’s head cheese.

They never seemed to notice our school uniforms at the one in Houma. As long as we were paying...

Even though I live in New Orleans and at the risk of being a complete heretic, I really miss those cheap 80's steakhouses like Western Sizzlin', Ryan's, Bonanza, Steak and Ale, etc. They remind of after church meals where it wasn't about the Yelp reviews or coolness of the place so you can post a pic on Instagram, just together time with family.

Agreed. We ate here and really enjoyed it. Thanks for the rec. I'll be back Tuesday and will try another.
