Is it really as bad as it looks in the news? I'm sure people in the top 1% of national wealth are content, but what about the average middle class family? What's like like over there?

SFP thinks he went to Stanford. You’ll have to ask him.

My SIL and her retired Baptist minister husband lived in Fresno until last

May.

They bought a house in Benton , Arkansas and presently living there.

Benton is about 30 miles SW of Little Rock.

I’ll be headed to LA Co Sheriff office in two weeks.

I don’t think the Tboy Klan can riot that long so I’m not worried

LA is so pretty conservative outside of downtown and Hollywood. What I’ve seen, all the action is downtown. Which is a liberal shithole.

Burn it all down.

I moved away 5 years ago from San Jose to NW Arkansas.

Right before Covid, my daughter won tickets to see Hamilton in San Francisco.

I couldn't believe how bad it had gotten. Tent for homeless lining the streets. So many passed out people. Saw someone shooting up.

I decided I would never see a show there again.

I lived in far south San Jose. For years, it seemed away from all the problems. It was beautiful and safe.
We raised our kids there, we had lots of friends, and we were happy.

Then homeless started creeping down to our area off of the bike path near our house. I didn't feel safe walking my dog by myself. A neighbor found a homeless person in their backyard. I no longer felt safe going to the mall by myself.

Schools had sucked for a long time. My kids went to private.

Water prices had gone up a lot, several hundred dollars for a small yard. Electricity was expensive $1000/mo and we kept it at 78 degrees and it wasn't as hot as Arkansas.

Gas was expensive. Car registration was expensive. When I last went to the DMV, I had to wait 5 hours.

Smoke from fired were bad every fall (used to not be that way).

I could avoid bad areas, and California is a naturally beautiful state. The weather is great. There aren't bugs. The beach, the mountains, and the wine country are beautiful. I miss being close to all of that.

The week before we moved arsonists set the hill by my house on fire. Thank God, the FD put it out. I was ready to leave.

I haven't even gone back to visit. I've heard it's much worse now.

The people are different too. Too many liberal women. I didn't fit in like I do in Arkansas.

It's really sad. I miss our home there. Lots of our friends have left.

I live in north Fresno. It’s just another day. Nice and quiet. No crime around where I’m at. This board goes into overdrive in trying to paint California with too broad of a brush based on X links and other fringe craziness. Just for reference my son’s school district has a 95.9% graduation rate and heavy community involvement. It isn’t a small district either and maybe the worst thing for this board is that it is very multicultural while keeping its traditional Western roots. People care and it shows and that is what matters.

My sister lived in Walnut Creek (across the bay) for 15 years and I went out there every year.

I loved San Francisco until the Democrats ran in the ground, last time I went it was like a war zone.

Bums, Homeless, Drug Addicts all over the place and parks. The Warf and all the nice stores were boarded up and closed

Yup. I'm here. I live in a very red area of Orange County. Nothing going on here. The city of Santa Ana is the closest parallel to LA with a saturated alien, lots of illegals, population. That city is one I know CBP is watching, and the locals are indeed nervous.

As a former school teacher, I can tell you this number is bullshite. In every state in the country, public school districts all cook the books to hide dropout rates or pass kids along despite being unable to read or solve math problems at grade level. They’re just diploma factories. Get what is now a worthless piece of paper in the kids’ hands so their parents can clap and cheer one day in May or June thinking their kid is ready for the real world.

Practically every major city in the US has been exclusively under Democrat control since WWII ended.

Why are we pretending to be surprised when not only do they miss the mark on the liberal utopia charade they try to sell the rest of the country, but that they actively make it worse for their own voters, year-over-year?

My neighbors family lives in California. As others stated, Cali gets a very bad rap because of LA and San Francisco.

His family is Republican as are most of the people out side of all the huge Metropolitian cities. Northern California is massively RED.

A lot of the people on this board haven't ever been north of the Carolinas or Tennessee or west of Texas (most haven't even been to Texas) or hell, south of Tampa.

Not that they shouldn't be held severely accountable, this is only confined to a small section of LA. The whole state of CA is nothing like this.

I promise you they’re letting standards slide or cooking the statistics somewhere. Every school district does it. Every. Single. One.

Doesn’t mean a kid can’t get a good education, but it’s really up to the kid.

Administrators don’t answer to you. They answer to the School Board. They care more about what the Board wants more than they care about your kid.
