It can get cold at night on a high plateau desert.

yea, but its not going to be like north Canada.

They said the temps in South Africa can change 80 deg in a day. That will be fun. The landscape looks pretty wide open. That will make building a good structure fun

Same. The last season was one of the best ever but it'll be a nice change. Looking forward to this. I think the only other hot weather season outside of the Australia ones was in Mongolia? Somewhere like that. It was a semi forgettable season.

South Africa? Aren't people trying to get out of there?

Next season, is it going to be in Gaza or the Ukraine?

I'm not up to date on the political climate there but they don't have anything like what is going on with the two you mentioned and South Africa has some awesome places. I would go to Cape Town and Johannesburg in a heartbeat. I highly doubt they'd be sending them into some warzone

I hope it isn’t as terrible for those poor bastards as Mongolia was in that season

It was just a contest of who could go the longest starving

Hardly any fish or food was found, just seemed like an absolute miserable experience

I have a feeling this season’s winner could set the record for staying the longest. When it comes to food South Africa should have more resources than Mongolia and the cold at night won’t come close to anywhere else the show has been.

I didn’t watch the trailer, maybe I’m wrong about the resources.

That depends HEAVILY on the area and the season. Could be another starve-off.

This has potential to be a good season. I was impressed with Kelsey killing a warthog on day 2. That's going to be a heck of an early advantage if she can preserve the meat and keep the animals away

I was really surprised how much wildlife is around them, I think we are going to see a few folks getting regular food.

Normally in past seasons they would have waited to like episode 3 or 4 to show a kill like that.

Poor boy shite himself and had to eject because his guts were wrecked, that’s gotta suck so bad

would the Chicoms ever let an unimpeded season be done in Tibet? that would be…phenomenal

Are they actually allowed to kill all the animals out there to survive? Or are there more dumb hunting restrictions?

Watching last night and 10 minutes in the girl who killed the warthog was already talking about missing home. Cool she got a warthog and can’t believe she hit it because she was about to have a panic attack while pulling back, but she’s not going to last long already missing family. And she let A LOT of meat go to waste on that hog. She looked like she smoked about 10 strips of Jack links beef jerky worth

For sure going to be numerous big kills. Somebody is going to pop a Kudu I’m sure.

I’m always skeptical of people that get “sick”. Dude talked about throwing up and made the noises, but every time he tried to do it on camera nothing came out. Feel like he was just a bit of a pussy and just hungry. I’ve watched every season of this show and I 100% could be wrong but it’s pretty easy to spot the people that don’t need to be out there and are just too soft.

I asked ChatGPT what are the restrictions for the Karoo Desert and here's what it said:

quote:

Key Restrictions in the Karoo:

1. Permits and Licensing
You must have a hunting license or permit, which varies by province.

Additional tags or permits may be required for certain species.

Foreign hunters typically need to go through a registered outfitter.

2. Protected and Endangered Species
You cannot hunt protected or endangered species. These include, but are not limited to:

Cape Mountain Zebra

Black Rhinoceros

Aardvark, Pangolin, and certain birds of prey

A complete list is provided by the provincial nature conservation authorities.

3. Hunting Seasons
Some provinces have restricted hunting seasons for specific species.

Others may allow year-round hunting on private game farms, especially for non-indigenous or introduced species.

4. Land Ownership
Hunting is often only allowed on private land or registered game farms.

You need written permission from the landowner.

5. Weapon Regulations
Firearms must comply with South African gun laws.

Bow hunting is legal but subject to regulation.

Hunting with dogs or traps may be restricted or prohibited depending on the province.

6. Species Allowed for Hunting
Typical game species in the Karoo that may be legally hunted (with appropriate permits and in-season) include:

Springbok

Kudu

Gemsbok (Oryx)

Warthog

Eland

Blesbok

However, what is legal varies by location and management (e.g., free-range vs. fenced land).

The lady who killed the warthog said she couldn't kill the bigger animals over 60lbs, I'm pretty sure that's what she said. I think she said she had a 50lb bow. I was surprised she couldn't carry that warthog without breaking it down a lot.
