I was surprised she couldn't carry that warthog without breaking it down a lot.

There was a text popup saying it weighed 300 lb. She said she had to practice 3x a day to get to use the 50 recurve. I believe another popup said the poundage dictated the size, not weight of the animal. She misspoke saying the deer thingy weighed 60 so she couldn't kill it bc she had a 50

In that climate, I'm not sure how fast a person can process larger game. Depending on how far away from camp, how much you can carry and how fast you can get a smoker going will impact preservation. You don't have a natural refrigerator as up in Canada.

As some note, there seems to be ample prey.

The lady who killed the warthog said she couldn't kill the bigger animals over 60lbs, I'm pretty sure that's what she said.

She couldn't kill the buck because the minimum draw weight required to shoot one is 60lbs. Her draw weight on her bow was only 50lbs so she had to pass on the buck, 50lb draw weight on a traditional bow just isn't enough kill power to humanely shoot an animal like that so the set limits to make sure there is enough kill power/feet per second shooting speed. The draw weight requirement for a warthog is most likely a decent amount lower.

It was 100lbs. Said she harvested about 50lbs of meat.

A 300lb hog is a massive animal. I've killed a 200+ pound hog and it's head wouldn't have fitted in her backpack much less half of it's body like she got with that hog.

Surprised she didn't tie it's legs up and try dragging it.

Finally caught up with the first episode and the gal who killed the hog is sure annoying. I have never heard the word Baboon as much in my life a she said it in this episode.

I have always been curious what kind of lectures or pre-drop talks they get about the area and she said they warned them about the Baboons. I found that interesting that she brough that up.

Yes. She is.
But she does seem like someone who can do well on this show.

The guy who shite himself was never going to last out there. He was skinny as frick from the get go. He had zero % chance of winning. There's guys that have one that looked like normal in shape guys who weren't fat, but this guy looked like he was already on day 60 from the start.

I like the Cuban guy.

I know they have to change it up a bit each season, but i don't really care for this landscape. The water factor is such a big hurdle. It's got to be a pain in the arse to have to boil shitty water every single time you want to drink, and you hardly any way to save fresh water. I think i'd try to bring water proof pants and use that as water storage. Boil a bunch of water and dump it in there. The water looks so nasty it seems like you'd have to filter it, boil it, filter it again, but what sucks is they aren't on a seashore where they'll find goodies on the shore like plastic bottles to help with that.

I do too. I liked his Coyote water system. That seems like it will work.

I haven't watched it but there is a "before the drop" episode before every season where they introduce you to all the contestants and tell you a little bit about the season. One season they showed them as a group doing training with people that worked for the History channel and local park rangers. They were explaining to them about tree fall, the types of animals native to the area, showing them all the poisonous and non poisonous vegetation and animals. It was pretty cool. They are definitely well informed before they go. Hence her knowing that her bow didn't meet the minimum draw requirement to shoot that one type of deer.

Episode 2 was kind of boring.

Dug is my current favorite.

I was high on Colton when he first showed up but the minute he started talking about his dad, I knew he wasn’t going to last. He blamed it on the fish head soup but that was a front.

Colton was a fricking moron. He hung the fish up in limbs thinking it would be good. Big difference between smoked fish and raw fish. He had no clue, and he had huge daddy issues. Wouldn't shut up about his daddy. I wish his dad would have been there to whip his arse. Glad he is gone. Only one of them so far has built a boma. Having any of them ever seen any naked and afraids in Africa. A boma will be essential to protect you from everything from walking animals to baboons. The lakes and rivers around there are full of fish. Make a smoker and then go fishing.

The way that baw went after the crabs was pretty funny.

I thought Baha seemed like he might have a good background for this but then they acted like a 2 mile walk took him the entire first day and completely drained him. Then he couldn't make a fire for a while and was getting dehydrated. That was pretty weak. 2 mile walk shouldn't take more than an hour

Yes he was. What a weak minded loser to be on this show. I almost think he was a plant by the producers. No way anyone thought that guy would last more than 15 days without his phone and support animal.

Pathetic participant and a wasted spot.

Oh, I agree they want people they think will tap out early. They don't want all 10 people going 90+ days. It's still a TV show. IDK if this guy was a "plant" in the sense that he was faking (could be though) or just when they were vetting contestants the producers suspected he was a potential earl tap.

So now History channel doesn't stream it for free on their app anymore

I have YouTube TV which doesn't have History on it but in years past they had it on the Roku app and you could stream for free with adds. Now they only allowed the first episode free and I guess the rest are locked.

Wanted to watch weekly so I could keep up with the thread but think I'll just wait until they're all aired and pay for a month.

I was in the same boat here. I use my parents login because they have directv and works.

I refuse to pay for yet another streaming. We have enough

So. Many. Services.

This one can't be but a couple bucks a month but even those start to add up. Knowing me I'll forget about it and end up paying for a years worth before I remember to cancel like I've done so many times

We are tv watchers and have too many as well. I just cut a few off our xfinity account and I am about to start in on the streaming services. I am making a list and will let the family pick a couple and the rest goes

I don't know what streaming service Alone would be on and i don't care. I download almost every show i watch.
I was ok with paying for some streaming services, but when i'm paying for them and also having to still watch commercials (Disney+, Paramount, Amazon), well frick that. I have Netflix and AppleTV. I'm not paying to watch commercials.

Episode 3 done.

Didnt realize that only 3 people actually brought water bottles as part of their 10 items. Glad to see my man Dug has one.

I didn’t see Pablo tapping that early. I thought he would last.

Also didn’t see Will getting so sick from eating what he did. I think he was already so thin and underweight. Not a lot of action on this episode either.
