TNT, announced Monday it would split into two companies, the latest move by a major media conglomerate to reckon with a fracturing audience landscape.

The split will see one company house Warner's studios and streaming units, which include HBO Max, the DC Comics universe, and film productions and distributions. That group will be led by WBD CEO David Zaslav.

The other will comprise WBD's TV networks and will be led by CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels.

WB IP will be very attractive once this split is completed. Look for Zaslav to sell it sometime in 27.

Makes it easier to sell off CNN.

I just wish they'd do something with the gaming division.

This sucks. CNN has some great docs and non-news series. Was nice having them on Max.

Is there going to be a ceasing of the shared content on the streaming service (whatever it's name is/will be)?

If they're creating separate services, then this is just one weird, costly 180

If they are going to try to sell a streaming service made up of TNT and CNN, then they better expect about 200 subscribers total across the country.

That's genuinely one of the worst platform ideas I've ever heard.

I imagine they're just spinning them off to get rid of them.

I'm not a lawyer, but all of these constant movements of streaming services would seem to generate some type of vulnerability to lawsuits around changing the deal after you've sold it.

For example, I sign up for Max, and then they sell off part of what I signed up for. I'm sure they won't lower the cost of Max, so now I'm getting less than what I was sold.

Are they simply relying on the fact that there is very little money involved (so no real damages) from the subscriber standpoint to protect them from being sued?

Have you read through the terms and conditions when signing up?

That's my guess as well. I don't know anyone who would want a stream of just those either.

I’m no lawyer either, but things get added and deleted all the time in things like this. Legally if you don’t like what you are paying for, you can cancel.

I'm sure they say they can change the service at any time.

I just don't like that it feels like a bait and switch.

Funny if someone buys CNN and shift it right of Newsmax.

I’ve watched this year’s NBA and NHL playoffs on TNT via Max. If they take those off, I’m definitely not paying for ANOTHER streaming service that’s just TNT/CNN stuff.

I thought the same thing but everytime I watched one it was all anti conservative and very pro progressive liberal leaning

No thanks
