Was anyone impressed with Kirn?

Lefty throwing high 80’s to low 90’s and held us hitless until the 4th inning.
I was very disappointed in our hitting until the 5th. That guy was nothing special and we couldn’t do anything.
3 Tigers had 13 of our 16 RBIs.

Idk if this is a troll or not. But if you’ve ever played ball at a high level, you’d realize it’s not about throwing hard all the time….. which btw, let me see you hit a high 80s to low 90s lefty. Anyways the kid can pitch and has a weird arm angel, it’s not easy letting the ball travel against someone like that.

The guy was at the knees on the outside edge multiple times. He eventually made mistakes and it cost him.

I was literally texting my brother when Curiel was batting in the 4th, “We don’t have a damn hit yet in the 4th inning.”
Had to change it to, “Finally! Our first hit of the game.”

No. He looked good for two innings and then fell apart. We weren’t hitting for a bit, but he started hitting batters and walking guys because we stopped swinging and let him pitch himself right out of game. That became a strategy because of how poorly he held his control, and that was supposed to be a strength of his.

Put it this way, they were hitting our first round draft pick, 95-97 mph pitcher more than we were hitting their nobody pitcher.
Basically, despite the score yesterday, I’m concerned about our hitting going forward.

Every game I’ve ever watched, the commentators always talk about how much harder it is to hit a slower ball when your timing is geared toward a 90+mph ball.

The ump was giving the inside strike. At least a full baseball off the plate. It’s very difficult to hit when the ump is calling that a strike.
We adjusted by moving closer to the plate. They hit multiple batters. Stopped coming inside and started to walk multiple batters. Finally threw strikes and we crushed it.
Sometimes you need to figure out the zone first. Especially when there is an ump with an odd zone.

Ranters have been saying this for weeks now. And yet, LSU has to win one of the next two games while home at The Box to make it to Omaha.

He’s an experienced left handed pitcher. He was utilizing the zone that the ump started giving him (inside corner to righties). Which to me implies a relatively decent ability to control his pitches. His delivery also seems to hide the ball a bit longer than normal. Which I think is just as effective as pitching 5 mph faster than he was.

He pitched a lot the last 2 weeks. That eventually takes a toll.

Their pitcher pitched 4 innings. Through 4 innings, Kade had allowed 2 hits and 1 run. For his 4 innings, Kirn allowed 4 runs on 2 hits.

Kade had to sit a long time during our 7 run 5th inning. He was dealing before that.

We’ve been streaky hitting the ball all season, and that’s been against all different levels of pitchers. Have you just not been paying attention? This is not anything new.
