Led Zeppelin doc on Netflix

If you’re a huge Zeppelin fan, go ahead and watch. I appreciated it. There’s some very good footage from early on. Very cool. Music lovers will appreciate it.
But it’s not at all a good documentary in the entertaining sense. Since it’s “the only authorized documentary” and the members were involved…
It’s 2 hours and they didn’t even get to 1970. They didn’t cover any of the absolutely wild shite that they did in the 70s. None of the touring wildness. Nothing on Bonham’s demons and the crazy drinking that led to his death. There’s no voiceover or anything like that. Just the guys talking occasionally and music.
Lots of music and performances. If you’re into that you’ll enjoy it. It’s just a very very paint by numbers, safe, somewhat boring doc. For such a great band that had many interesting things involved with them, just far too safe a doc.
(To be honest I’m being really nice. For anyone but the biggest zeppelin fans this was an abysmally bad doc)

Just started it
Is there anything actually new and revealing in it?
I mean I’ve read Hammer of the gods and seen sing remains the same, seen a bunch of interviews over the years
But I like the band so I’ll probably finish it

No.

There’s nothing new to learn. The mystery that helped build one of, if not the greatest rock band ever is gone.

I started it last night and have about 45 minutes left on it. I’m enjoying it but it is definitely fairly boring and disappointing though.
As much as I like the music I don’t really need to see full performances of songs from their early days. Just play a clip of it and move on instead of watching them play Babe I’m Gonna Leave You for five straight minutes.
And I know it’s about them “becoming” the band, but I want to hear about their wildness in the 70s too. So that’s another big disappointment as well.

Well I know this is not a popular opinion, but an honest, true documentary on Led Zeppelin would have to include all the plagiarism and sexual assault of underage girls
letting the song play all the way through is a good way to fill time

Then this doc isn’t necessary if that’s the case. Because you can just watch one of their concert DVDs instead and see performances of the songs.

Maybe there's a "Being Led Zeppelin" on the way.

I thought it was supposed to be about the formation of the band, not the wild times on tour.

Man, I hope so. Went and saw this when it was out at the theater and enjoyed it. It is "safe" as was said, so it'd be cool to see some wild times. I doubt that happens though.

Um, the movie is titled "Becoming Led Zeppelin"...
