Had one take a big trout clean off the head this A.M. Just started wade fishing the past couple years. I jumped in the boat after that. anybody else have this happen and just stay in the water?

My buddy’s dad said they used to have to fight them off when they’d attack the stringer back in the day.

There was a guy who attacked last year around Port O'Connor. Between the sharks and the rays I think I will just stay in the boat.

I had a bullshark head butt me right on the thigh once. Freaked me the frick out. Gave me a Charlie horse. Anyway, sharks are a real frickin' problem these days, no matter what sort of salt or inshore fishing you do.

I thought sharks were cool when I was a kid, had books about them. Always trying to catch them when at the coast.
Then I grew up and matured and learned to hate them. frick sharks.

I used to surf fish a good bit. I had one of those nets on a floating ring. One morning I had about 10 trout in it. Something pulled me off my feet. I did not see it but my net was torn and the trout that remained were destroyed.

Hot damn i would have walked on water haha. I did end up back in the water at the same spot later though. Gotta risk it for the biscuit.

sharks are people too brah. You are in their home when on the water. If they eat a fish off your line or rip your daughter's arm off when swimming, thats just something we have to accept. If you don't like those terms, stay home and play video games.
I'm ready for those retarded beliefs to go away.

Remember it like it was yesterday…
“ And yes …There’s sharks in these waters, it’s their HOME …but we don’t have any damn time for that… if one fricks with you just punch it in the nose… now in the fricking water!!! GO GO GO GO GO! “

Sharkbanz. Surf fish in Breton a lot. Put a band on stringer and on ankle. Have watched shark approach stringer and turn away with sharkbanz attached.

All the time at Chandy in the summer. Usually just splash their way and they turn off and leave you alone. Have seen a few that were big enough to make me go dry off and eat a sandwich though.

Know a guy that swears by these, but I have not tried one yet.

How could you tell what species the shark was? You were able to get a good look at it?

It was on Johnson Beach in Perdido. Clean water. Yeah I think I could tell. Maybe 6 to 8 ft. Not giant but aggressive enough. I saw its fin coming right at me. It looked to have that sort of bluntish bull shark nose. Bull sharks are aggressive. It could've been a different species but I doubt it.
But here's what really freaked me out. I was wade fishing on the south shore of big lagoon when this gigantic fricking thing gingerly swam right by me, one foot in front of me. The water was stained and all I could make out was this fricking unknown animal about 12 feet long. I didn't know what it was. I was momentarily frozen in absolute fear.
I was up to my chest and just started to back out slowly. I could hear my heart beating. It wasn’t until I got back to shore and processed what I saw, and then realized exactly how goddamn big a manatee really is. I'd never been in the water with one and have never seen them in south Florida. When that globulous fricking mass of a mammal drifted right by me. I thought i was about be eaten by a great white or some shite.
Freaked me the frick out. It was worse than the shark.

Pretty damn common if you are wade fishing!

I’ve read reports and heard from buddies that they are terrible this year.

Sand sharks would F up some stringers when we used to fish Fourchon beach back in the day. We moved to the baskets when they started making them and it definitely helped but would still try and tear open the netting.
Meh, we’d catch some sharks and could feel basket get tugged. Just walk back to the beach and drive further down. Once you caught a couple, fishings done in that spot.
