Why is this such an obsession with the "trust the science" crowd?

Trust the science? My God, Long COVID is the single most pseudoscientific thing I have ever heard of in my life.

I think it's actually quite common for viruses to leave a lingering mark.

But yeah, I agree... that "Long Hauler" shite was annoying and doubtlessly overblown. Another victim badge for those delighted to collect them.

"Long Covid" is a term that has an incredibly open-ended definition. If Long Covid symptoms can be everything, then anything could be Long Covid.

Take someone who clings to this term. I imagine they never admit they're wrong, never apologize, there's always an excuse. The CDC's definition allows them to continue their virtue signaling while being pretentiously indignant.

Read the definition per the CDC
People with Long COVID can have a wide variety of symptoms that can range from mild to severe and may be similar to symptoms from other illnesses. Symptoms can last weeks, months, or years after COVID-19 illness and can emerge, persist, resolve, and reemerge over different lengths of time.

The r/ZeroCovidCommunity sub on Reddit has 29k members that get off on things like portable air filters, making up stories about kicking people out of their lives over masking, and comparing who has had "Long Covid" the longest.

Go check out that place every now and then if you want to see some truly insane human behavior and how they just push each other to deeper depths of crazy.

My 70 year old mother got Covid back in 2020. Was fairly tough on her and she was very active and very healthy for a 79 year old.

She has never been the same since. Call it what you want but she was changed health and energy wise.

And still is.

I don't know what to think about it. On the surface it sounds like bullshite. But so did fibromyalgia for a long time. But now it is beginning to look like it is legit.

I would imagine it would be pretty hard to pin down and study in a elderly person. With many older people it is common that when they face a health issue they never fully recover because of the age factor. I think the real test would be these 30-40 years that claim long covid and health issues from it.

Yeah, I totally agree with you. But I will say that she had a very negative effect from what it did to her for the month. It took her to get through it. She was always very active working in her yard and flower beds and she has a fish pond in the backyard. She has pretty much lived an active lifestyle her whole 70 years. After, she could never seem to get her energy back up and they were trying everything to help her. It has still not happened and of course now she is over 75. It was absolutely a line in the sand.
