Are the Tampa Bay Rays supposed to be ‘sunrays’?

Very possible I’m a retard, but after seeing their flash logos again tonight for the billionth time I just put a puzzle together. If this is true they may be the gayest franchise out there.
I can say this as a backer of the non pride franchise.

The rays and marlins both had better logos and uniforms in the 90s. I really hate the ongoing trend of teams going to more minimalist/classic logos and colors. A lot of the expansion teams in all 4 major sports in the 90s had wacky logos and color palettes but have since backtracked to more boring/traditional uniforms.

They were the Devil Rays
Then they dropped Devil and just became Rays.
But a ray can also be a ray of sunshine AND Florida is already deemed “The Sunshine State”
But only queers think sunrays is what they were going for. The thought never even occurs to straight people. So they added it as a test to help identify truly gay people.

Some of them were dated, and some of them aged well. The Jaguars original look was perfect, and they've started to shift back to it. The Carolina Panthers have stayed almost perfectly consistent.
The Florida Panthers original look was awesome, but somehow their new look is even better. Their uniforms are elite. The Sharks went back to their OG look, and the Ducks recolored theirs (even though the jade/eggplant was awesome).
The Rockies suck no matter what, and the Marlins should go back to the Dontrelle Willis unis. The Diamondbacks looked their best when they were using sand/red, and abandoned purple/orange.
Of all those clubs, the Rays upgraded in everything. Name has dual meaning, still use the Devil Ray, and their colors are better than the 1998 gradient look.
