Seems the romance is over now. DOGE gone. Elon coming out against the OBBB. Trump talking shite on social media. TSLA down big today.

For the richest guy in the world, one who many consider to be a "genius", he sure found a way to screw this all up. He alienated his Tesla/Twitter/Grok user base by going political and now is going to lose support from the wing of politics he sacrificed it all for.

Maybe it’s all planned.

"I'm very disappointed, because Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody sitting here, better than you people," Trump said to reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday. "All of a sudden he had a problem, and he only developed the problem when he found out that we're going to have to have to cut the EV mandate. Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if we will anymore. I was surprised"

Musk posted on X, the social media platform he owns, in apparent response to Trump's comments: "Whatever."

Does this mean you will stop destroying Teslas?

My gut, this is not real and being Trump and Elon being the master trolls they are.

People who do that are complete idiots.

I don't think this is trolling. As someone mentioned above, this was inevitable. I just didn't think it'd be this soon. Musk is also holding back $100M he committed to Trump's PAC for midterms.

Maybe he’s actually just principled and doesn’t play both sides of the line. I applaud this behavior

Elon’s heart is in the right place, but I don’t think he understands that “pork” is not the reason our debt situation is so bad.

It’s entitlements. Has Elon ever spoken out in favor of entitlement reform?

Yes. Multiple times. Which is definitely part of his issues with all of this. He was basically not allowed to touch them. I think a lot of this gnashing of teeth is theater, but Elon is very aware of where the spending issues are.

LINK

quote:

“Most of the federal spending is entitlements. So that’s the big one to eliminate. That’s the sort of half trillion, maybe six, 700 billion,” Musk said on Monday in an interview with Fox Business’ Larry Kudlow. Musk’s comments came in response to a question from Kudlow about whether there would be a report on targeting waste, fraud and abuse in federal spending.

Might wanna grab a dictionary, bud. That man is about as far from "principled" as one can imagine. He's an opportunist, through and through. Blame the drugs or whatever, the dude went off the rails and has himself on an island now.

Principled

He should've never been involved in government anyway. An unelected man, who just happens to be the richest in the world who gets tens of billions annually from US government contracts, had ZERO business being allowed to fire people and kill contracts.

Why the hell should we care what South African immigrant Elon Musk thinks about our bureaucracy, much less be given access to run roughshod?

This could be a valid argument if you’re fine with no being hypocritical about it, but it already happened so let’s move to the next question:

What specific actions did he pursue that were bad, unethical, or unjust?

And don’t tell me people lost their jobs, I understand that, and I’m empathetic that happened to people, but most of them should have never been employed in the first place. This is the real world, it’s not going to be sunshine and rainbows

It is worth noting, that DOGE can't fire anyone. Or kill any contracts.

The fallout stems back from DOGE finding less than 5% of what they claimed had been a black eye to Trump and the budget.

Tensions finally boiled over

Elon now saying Trump wouldn’t have won, nor would GOP have the senate, if it weren’t for him. Questioning Trump’s gratitude.
