Dependent on 2 things, we will now be $7.9 to $17.9 mil under the cap to start next season

After Ram and Carr's retirements, we sit at $30 mil under the cap. If we were to cut Taysom, that would put us $40 mil under.

Next season we are currently $22.1 mil over. If no more cap is spent this season, that means we will start next year under before making any other standard adjustments we always make.

I think there is a chance we do spend some of the current cap, but I think we will leave enough room to have us start under for the first time since I can recall (since at least before Drew's 2nd contract).

Absolutely zero reason to spend significantly more. Let’s clean it up and then avoid having to do the standard bullshite.

I feel like management finally understands, or accepts this course of action this year.

I think these numbers are a bit broad, there is some contract details that are not being accounted for but overall the Saints are in a better position cap wise than anyone could have hoped for at this point.

The future is bright now hold the line.

Outside of maybe paying Olave and Taylor, you don't have anyone on this team on a big contract in 2026. We are in an ideal spot for a rebuild since we actually have a good to very good offensive line, which most rebuilds lack.

The numbers are accurate, straight from OTC who was waiting for the details to be released before updating.

This is why I don't think we'll lose every game like some say is a possibility.

No issue with signing current players who deserve it. I was talking more bringing in new guys at this point.

I’d make sure he has regained his explosiveness after that knee injury though before I paid a speedster a decent extension.

I have 0 faith this will happen. You know Mickey is constantly looking for players that he believes we can bring in and help the team. If he does bring someone in hopefully he's not looking to make a major trade (have seen McCaffrey, Ramsey & Jaire Alexander rumors).

If this team does perform well and it looks like we're contenting for the South around the trade deadline, I would expect Mickey to look around.

Sheed is making explosive plays at OTAs right now. So he’s looking good to return at full strength.

I think he has a massive season this year.

He reeks of the type of player we don’t resign and goes elsewhere and continues to become a great playmaker.

I would expect he will spend some more. Hopefully not a lot. I can see them maybe bringing in a veteran WR (Allen or Cooper possibly) and a DB (Samuel?) along with some fringe rotational vets like Bullard.

Neither of which should be paid anything. Let them go and get some comp picks to rebuild.

I disagree. We can't let go of every single DB worth a shite when we have to pay them, even though we have up to this point. We are better off trading Olave > letting him walk for a comp pick.

FFS, there's no reason to pay Olave.

Is there any reason the Saints shouldn’t cut him? Will be 35 coming off injury.

Yuck! Injury prone and not that effective after his first 2 years. I hope he proves me wrong.

He's still 1 bad concussion from retirement though

Just the very idea that we will be under the cap makes me a happy man.
