Keep it up, Democrats. You’re done.

The worst political party that ever existed. I know many hate Bill Maher but sometimes he’s dead on.

I think it is taking all Maher has to not put the MAGA hat on.

I think he understands his party is cooked because of their endless tds. They promised to get Trump and failed so many times.

Except the GOP is trying its best not to pull ahead.
It’s like they want to remain as weak as possible.

Joe Scarborough, maybe the lead propagandist.

The big trouble for liberalism is its obsession with guilt and its inability to define a positive horizon.
I think modern US conservative movement is incoherent but each head of the beast does point towards some sort of positive project in the minds of those who hear that part of the message.
Ultimately both parties have an issue with being too big of a tent to have a coherent political platform but that is a necessity of our federal government's construction. The way we built this constitution was always going to lead to party duopolies that shift around over time.
However, it is interesting that the Democrats seem to almost exclusively hold the people driven by guilt. I see a glimmer of something else on their left fringe but they get rat fricked by the moderates and liberals who will use ethnic and gender identity politics to undermine the ability to organize politics around economic class.

Rush suggested years ago that the Republicans had no true desire to lead or be the majority party. He asserted that their timidity and fecklessness was the result of their contentment with being the minority. Trumps first term certainly affirmed that. Looks like his second term is trending the same way.

He’s missing the fact that these kids got their ideas from their crazy parents…not the other way around.

I disagree that these attributes are considered trouble when it comes to the left.
If dems are sincerely interested in attracting back men, particularly young men, they really need to hammer the guilt and atonement route. As a man, who doesn’t want to be the ones ultimately responsible for correcting the wrongs of our ancestors that stretch back decades or even centuries ago?
For our resident progressives, and any lurking left-wing think tanks, please consider this approach moving forward.

The only reason Democrats don’t go away is republicans mostly suck too.

Bill Maher is just a traditional Democrat. I don’t agree with his political views but at least they are rational. His party has been hijacked.

The problem with the guilt obsession is that it does not offer actual fixes to the things that cause the guilt. It is cheaper for a government to do self-flagellation than reparations, after all.

He absolutely would if he was not just such a old democrat.
I dont think he agrees with a lot of conservative views but he is not really a progressive.
He just jumps on the bandwagon too much for me. I know some of the shite he says, he does not believe

Correct. There is always a lot of raging about the perfect system but never a clear cohesive plan about what a better future would look like. Republicans likely share some of their views about how our systems are flawed. It's the lack of any plan for what the future should be which makes liberals fundamentally powerless.

Bc there is a lot in common between Trump and an old school blue dog democrat from the 80s or 90s.

They even fooled him. Right before the election, he was all but certain of a Harris victory. Or was he? Was he just wishcasting with a big platform to drum up more support for the antithesis of MAGA?
Maher, to his credit, has stayed very staunch and consistent since way back when I was in school and would watch "Politically Incorrect" on HBO. But it's the Left that has moved the Overton Window so far that Maher appears to be a moderate now. And, perhaps, that position of perspective has actually made him a bit more moderate.
That said, I still think BH is a sanctimonious godless douchebag. But he has been correct far more often than a broken clock in recent times.

Amongst the elected class of republicans he’s 100% correct.
It’s infinitely easier for them to keep their lobbyists and donors happy as a minority party.
It’s also why you see guys like Graham running around before midterms screaming about banning all abortion nationally or undermining Trump in Ukraine: he wants to the party to lose the house.
