I'm from Texas and am deciding on what college to attend. I've been accepted to Lsu and have been reading on this board for a while to get a feel for the fans and sports.. etc..

Give me your best reason to cross the border an go to Lsu!

Being able to buy one of your fellow Texans a beer in a bar as a freshman. Try that at UT.

Not sure you deserve LSU. If you do... It is the greatest atmosphere...(Not gay like Texas A$M) in the country. It is different from everything else in a good way.

If you come welcome, if you don't your spot will be filled quick. Make the best decision for you, your major and what you want to do after college.

I'm from Texas. Came to LSU, joined a fraternity, and the rest is history. Best decision of my life. Been spelling Geaux the right way ever since.

That said, I've got a brother and sister that go to UT, and they're enjoying themselves too. Austin is an awesome city. Either way you go, you can't go wrong. Don't stress about it.

Baylor isn't even in the same stratosphere as LSU and UT. You'll get a much better social education, which is more important than a book education imo, at LSU or UT, and you won't have to deal with all the religous fanatics.

I grew up south of Austin. My brother went to Texas A&M and I went to LSU. Going to LSU was the best decision I ever made. There is nothing in the world like it. I studied in Europe and attended graduate school at Emory. Not only was LSU a blast, but the education served me well.

Doesn't Baylor have a dry campus? Something to consider.

Visit the schools and decide for yourself. If you ask this question on hornfans or any other Texas board, their answers will be very similar and biased as what you've recieved here.

Seeing that you are from Texas, college is about broadening your horizons. Going to LSU offers you the chance to experience a different culture. You'll be able to taste some food that is unique in this great country of ours as well as have the opportunity to go to Mardi Gras in New Orleans, festivals throughout South Louisiana and football as God intended it - on a Saturday Night in Tiger Stadium.

There is a very, very deep bond amongst those of us that are LSU alumni as well as the friends of LSU. A friend that I know here in Los Angeles said that the LSU people are like a cult and after getting to know some of us, he has grown to love a place that I will always call "home." He said that when you ask an LSU alumnus about our Alma Mater, our faces light up with a smile and sometimes a tear for a place we hold so dear in our hearts.

Congratulations on being accepted to LSU. Now it's up to you to make the final step to become a Tiger. If you choose to do so, it is a decision that you will not regret.

If your choices are UT and LSU, you can't go wrong with either, but you'll have a better overall social experience at LSU which is a big factor in life/success in business after college (even though UT is rated higher academically for most majors). I graduated from LSU in 87 and UT-Austin grad school in 89. It was open admissions in the 80's and LSU has tightened academically over the last two decades. Yes, Austin is a cool town, with 6th Street bars and music, good food, Lake Travis, etc. Definitely does not suck and I really liked Austin as a city. I had my share of fun in Austin. But LSU is a life-long experience with strong ties even in Texas. I live near SMU in Dallas and the LSU alums in Dallas are very strong here and have much more fun and as strong connections even in our 40's than any UT bunch I've come across. The roar at Tiger Stadium, the pre-game march by the band ... versus the golf clap applause at Royal Memorial (or whatever it is called now) ... not a comparison. I go to Tiger Stadium every year but I have been back to a UT game only once in about 18 years. I also worked at a bar at LSU while there and was in a fraternity. Didn't graduate on time (took a few extra years) but wouldn't trade the experience for anything.

The other schools in Texas? Not even a comparison. Baylor and the small schools, I have many friends who went there, they all talk about how much fun we must have had at LSU. A&M? Good business ties after college, the Aggies are zealots, but I can't even begin to understand why TX high schoolers from good schools choose A&M over UT. College Station is equivalent to Starkville MS. Unless you want to be a vet or otherwise do strange things with animals, I'd avoid A&M.

So if you can get into both, you have some choices, but I really would think you'd be happier at LSU and if LSU vs. Baylor or the small TX schools, don't even waste your time. Send in your acceptance letter to the Ole War Skule. You won't regret it.

I go to Baylor and love it. I am still a huge LSU fan. Grant it, there is ABSOLUTELY nothing like Saturday Night in Tiger Stadium. But Baylor Football is going to shock the country next year, yes we will be in a bowl game.

Baylor is a very hard school. I'm in Business School its ranked #35 in country. Facilities are much nicer at Baylor, hands down. Waco is not that bad, although I'm not a huge partier.

Can't go wrong with either. and Sic 'Em

If you have to ask, then don't come to LSU. But, if you want a great education include in a little fun, maybe join a fraternity and attend LSU football games, which is a must, then go to LSU and in the rest of your life be proud to say " I graduated from LSU"..........or don't come and regret it the rest of your life......it's a no brainer!!!

Here is an honest answer and this is without reading through the 4+ pages this thread has amassed......If you want an experience where you can come to school and get wasted 5 of 7 nights in the week you can find that. That route may not keep you in Baton Rouge for a long time. Also if you want to come in a get a great education, that IMHO is vastly undervalued by the professional world, and do it with honors that is also possible. It is also possible to come here and enjoy everything that I'm sure has already been mentioned in the thread and graduate with a degree to boot. Bottom line LSU is a great experience but you have to choose which experience you want for yourself.

Mesquite trees, cowboy hats, boots and country & western music was never my idea of a good time, eventhough I am a Texan (I can't hide it...I have that "drawl")!

Lived in Louisiana now for 28 years and I'm not moving...even back to my family. Get ya some shrimp boots, a cast net and come on down!
