Trump Approves Plan To Create “Digital ID” For Every American Citizen?

The NYT is reporting that Trump has approved a plan to develop a digital ID system that could consolidate data on Americans from various federal agencies after signing an executive order aimed at improving data sharing at the Federal Level to combat waste and fraud.
I hope this is fake news.
Yet if true, the main legacy of the DOGE initiative may be a national digital id and further scaffolding of the Deep State surveillance apparatus?
That would be a mean kick in the crotch.

On Friday, The New York Times reported that Palantir, the AI-focused software and military contractor, has expanded its "work across the federal government in recent months" after it had been tapped by President Donald Trump to create "detailed portraits" or a digital ID on Americans "which could easily merge data on Americans — throughout agencies," such as from the IRS, the Department of Homeland Security, the Health and Human Services Department, the Social Security Administration and the Department of Education.
The development comes after Trump signed an executive order in March charging the federal government to share data across agencies in the name of "stopping waste, fraud, and abuse."
Palantir employees told The Times that the company's engineers had been "quietly" discussing creating a digital ID for Americans and that they had grown worried about placing such sensitive data in one place...
I hope this is fake news.

Not sure I am for this, but if it is enacted, this better be the method we force ID to be presented to vote. Also, the means by which you're auto-deported.

And palantir is Peter Thiel. Already been involved in DOD contracts.
They have also been partnered with ICE since 2014.

So like a social security number? I'm sorry if it's brand new news for some of you but the government already has all the information about every one of us that that'll ever need/want. If they're going to monitor me anyway they might as well come up with a system that makes it easier to exclude illegals from participating in society as much as possible.
