Kids = infants to 17yos

Family waking hours = 40hrs per week (2 FT working parents)

- Approximately 105 hours of waking time per week (7am - 10pm).

- Family waking hours (less 50hrs for parent(s) work time + commute, 10-15hrs household stuff (cooking, grocery shopping, paying bills, chores, etc) = 40hrs (mostly weekends). If stay at home parent, obviously more.

“With” =

Directly engaging with them (eg, playing catch, helping with homework, breakfast/lunch/dinner, together, watching movie, playing game, hunting/fishing, bowling).

Supporting them (eg, church, at their school, sporting dance, and practices thereof, events, doctor appointments, their friends, social events, etc)

Not “with” = working from home while kids in next room, Mom & Dad at gym while kids at gym daycare, date nights, girls or boys nights out for parents, etc.

Genuinely curious how much quality time parents are spending with their children.

Your challenge confirmation number is

Mediation department office hours is 8-5pm daily, if you don’t challenge that time parameter, of course.

I’m going guess 40-45.

8-10 hours/day on weekends.
5 hours/day on weekdays.
all kids <5 years of age and in daycare.

we have 0 support system (grandparents; extended family). not complaining, just the way it is.

Do I need to break out the multivariable calculus if I'm walking the dog, but my kids are riding scooters?

Most people = not enough. Many adults are selfish and need to reprioritize their lives. Too many work, money, buying things obsessed. Life and childhoods are extremely short!

When I am with my son, 3 hours per night on week nights, and probably 14 hours per day on the weekend days. So around 50.

30 ish hours

Work 4 x 10hr shifts

2 of those work days, I got home for 1hr then go to gym
2 of those days I have about 2-3 hours with kids
1 off day is during week, kids are at daycare half the day~6 hours
2 weekend days 8hrs or so

ETA: Both kids are under 3. Youngest is asleep by 6:30, Oldest 7:30. So waking hours for them is 7a-7p basically

All day Sat and Sun, and after work until bedtime on weekdays.

Also an hour or 2 before work on weekdays.

I'm not doing the math but basically if I'm not at work I'm with my kid. He's still a baby though so I'm sure that will change.

Your time with your children is the highest yield of life - for them and you - bar none!

Prioritize and protect it. It is THAT important.

Mine are teenagers- 17 year old is taking a summer class at the Career Center and working 2 jobs for the month of June. So we get an hour or so a day with him.

Daughter is 14 and spends most of the day talking/texting with friends if she’s not hanging out with them. Maybe 2 hours a day with her.

During school we eat dinner together at least 2 nights a week depending on their extra curricular schedules.

They don’t want to watch TV/movies with us anymore like they used to
