Anyone do Global Entry lately?

I finally applied after a long time of saying I was going to do it and never getting to it.
I know a lot of people have said it took forever for appointments after COVID.
Anyone that has done it recent memory, how long did it take for Conditional Approval? And how long did it take for you to get an appointment? (I would be doing it at MSY most likely but any story is fine)
(I am aware you can walk in after your international flight during certain hours and just do it, but I am hoping to have it in place before my next one)

My friends parents had their appointment on the 1st or 2nd of May. Their trip is June 1 and they’ve already have their appointment.
I think they originally applied toward the end of April and go their conditional within a few days, but I’m not positive on that.

renewal took a week total from application to getting my new card in the mail.

Do you think it was worth getting? I travel international 3-4 times a year and I just haven't seen the need for it. What do you think?

Absolutely
I travel out of the country 1-2 times a year and it was worth it after the first trip. Walking past the lines at immigration is a great feeling.
Being that it also gives you access to TSA Precheck, it is a no brainer to me

I only go international maybe x2 a year, and I am doing it because I do not see the point of just doing Precheck when its not that much more to do Global Entry.
Seems worth it to me

That plus a lot of credit cards will reimburse the cost of Global Entry, so while it can be a pain in the arse to get an appointment, it doesn't cost anything but a bit of time and effort.

It's wild to me people don't value their time.
$100 for Precheck and GE if you fly once a year total is worth it.
Flying international once every 5 years for the $25 premium over Precheck is worth it. How can someone not value saving an hour slogging through those lines at $25!
Just my feelings on it. Obviously the deal gets better and better the more flights you take, but I think even the lowest flight frequency works. I'm amazed anyone is still not Precheck.

Just over a month...still no prelim approval.
I do feel like an idiot because in the box that asks if you have an international trip planned in the next 6 months, I checked "no"...because it was 6 months and 8 days.
I just wanted to make sure I was being 100% accurate.
Anyway...the wait continues

There is an app called appointment scanner that will alert you to cancellations for appointments. On the Global Entry everything was booked for 4 months out. With the appointment app I was able to get an appointment in 1 week.
The app will alert you of openings but you have to book the date. It will send you several everyday.

The global entry card works as a real id too for domestic flights so its definitely worth it.

Plenty of people book a fully refundable ticket a couple of weeks out, get the interview scheduled, and then cancel the ticket. And remember, you're dealing with FedGov that can't figure out that while I've been reporting wages in Houston every month for years, when someone reports an hourly wage under my SSN in Massachusetts, something might be wrong.

Took longer to get the actual appointment than it did to get approval.

Wife did it this week. 24 hours and she was good to go.

I did it online recently and got the approval rather quickly. Scheduled the appointment for before my next international trip but didn’t go and glad I didn’t.
When I returned from my trip and went through customs I did the “interview” and it took about 5 minutes. I would have been pissed had I driven all the way to New Orleans from BR for a scheduled “interview” that took 5 minutes.
I got the card in the mail maybe a week later after doing the interview.
