.S. President Donald J. Trump in a post just a few minutes ago on Truth Social: “What Vladimir Putin doesn’t realize is that if it weren’t for me, lots of really bad things would have already happened to Russia, and I mean REALLY BAD. He’s playing with fire!”

Doesn't the president of the United States have a way to communicate with Russia other than social media?

Two things:

1) I pray Trump finds a way to keep us the hell out of some formalized conflict with Russia.

2) If he fails, your head will spin at how quickly that conflict becomes unpopular with the leftist shitbags that have been calling for it.

And yet the cognitive dissonance isn’t coming from the left.

MAGA cannot process that Trump has no idea how to successfully persuade Putin to do anything.

Despite Trump telling them he would end the war on day 1.

I don’t think Putin is going to be persuaded by this tough guy on social media post.

Trump being somewhat unpredictable is probably why despite his theatrics and world leaders' disdain for him, they will readily come to the table.

I genuinely think the reaction of world leaders to this stuff is along the lines of

PM: That's not what we talked about at all, he's bluffing, it's so frustrating dealing with his schtick.

Staffer: Probably sir, who knows what he's talking about, no way he thinks we're going to cave on that.

PM: Sigh, he might actually do it though. We've got to go through the motions at minimum on it.

Putin: *declares war on Ukraine*
Ukraine: * only holds off Russia due to US, EU, international support *

Putin: best strategy is to stall out US / Europe funding in a war of attrition until they fight over cost and withdraw support

Trump: If a ceasefire isnt reached soon, I will withdraw US support of Ukraine

Putin: *obviously, doesnt come to the table *

What now? Putin has 0 incentive to end the war

This approach works better against terrorists like Houthi who believe Trump will actually send drones to their homes if they dont come to the table.

Trump cant do anything to Putin except more sanctions, on top of the ones we already have... but China, India and Africa are ready to buy more Russia exports so..

In 2021, almost 50% of Russia's exports went to European countries, including Belarus and Ukraine, according to the Observatory of Economic Complexity (OEC)

. The bulk of those exports were energy products, primarily crude oil and gas.

Yet, by the end of 2023, less than two years after the invasion began on February 24, 2022, the picture was completely transformed.

The OEC's recently published figures for 2023 show China and India out in front as Russia's two main export markets, accounting for 32.7% and 16.8% respectively — half the total. In 2021, China accounted for 14.6% of Russian exports whereas India accounted for just 1.56%.

The two countries have swept up the export market share previously taken by European countries. The 2023 figures show European nations accounting for barely 15% of Russian exports, a huge drop from the almost 50% of two years earlier.

Here's the thing Putin does not care at all what Trump wants or has to say. He will throw as many bodies and crash Russia's economy to win in Ukraine. Maybe not cause he wants to but now he has to. After 3 years of war the perceived fear and prestige of the conventional Russian military has been shattered. In my non-expert opinion this war is no longer about land and protecting ethnic Russians its about saving face.

Putin has not changed… at all.

He had somehow convinced Trump that Putin himself wanted peace, and that Nazis in Ukraine were to blame…

Why such far fetched ideas were so easily accepted remains a mystery.

Trump, have you tried giving in to some of putins demands? If not, then you're playing with fire trying to score the apprarance of a "win" so you can feed a truth social post to the dumbest of your supporters.

If nobody caves to a single one of Putins demands, why should he stop? Putin holds all the cards. He's winning the war easily.

Why should he stop if his demands are being completely ignored? Anyone have an answer? Anyone?
