Hi All, going to be spending some time in the St. Francisville area during the month of June. Have access to ponds of various sizes from half an acre to 10+ acres that I can fish. I’m wondering how the bass, bream, sac a lait etc fishing will be this time of year, and any suggested tactics. TIA!

Red shad Texas rigged worm for bass

These for bream

or these for both, just get the lightest one so the bream can be hooked

Super fluke in golden bream color for bass and black/pink tube jig for panfish. Good luck and let us know how you do.

When I was a kid the Black/Yellow H&H was a pond killer

I think they are used to eating smaller baits and it probably resembles a small bream their #1 food in ponds.

Purple Worm

Small Top Water if early enough before the sun comes up

In a pond, small white beetle spin with a red dot on it.

The ones with no tails.

Thanks, is the sac a lait fishing in June generally good, hit or miss etc?

Troll slowly anywhere from 8-15' deep with rooster tails and beetle spins. But I'm fishing North MS lakes for crappie. I'd think water temps are a little warmer down there in Louisiana in June so the fish would feed at a different depth. Especially in smaller ponds.

Start by asking the people that own the ponds. Small ponds all have their own little secrets. I can tell you how to catch crappie all day long in my 5acre pond in midsummer. I don't know if that advice would be worth much on the ponds you'll be fishing though. You really need to know where the underwater structure is, if you want to be successful/consistent catching crappie in that time of year.

They’re suckers for a shiner under a cork in every pond I’ve fished but if the largemouth exist in numbers, they’ll inhale those shiners before the sacalait get there.

For sacalait I slowtroll shiners 8-10 ‘ under slip cork. Really need to know the depth of he deep end of pond. Bass much easier if there’s laydowns and such along bank.

Just about every crappie I've ever caught in a pond has been on some type of beetle spin.
In general crappie are bad for small ponds because they are voracious eaters.... which typically makes them easy to catch in a pond.

Not many ponds are successful with sacalait and bass together. The only bait you need in summer for pond bass is a wacky rigged pumpkin senko when suns out. In shade use a watermelon color.. If it's highly pressured and you want to catch the big ones use live perch.

Wacky Worm will usually do the trick.
If not, live bait under a cork.
Fish early in the day or late in the afternoon.

I've tried targeting crappie in my family pond but all I ever end up with is Bass. I bought an ultralight set up to specifically target them this summer. I've got the bass figured out, Texas rigged Red worm every time.

this little tube jig under a cork fished around structure was the crappie killer at my pond growing up when they would hit nothing else.

I'd catch them on small spinnerbaits when they were feeding aggressively, but this was always the go to. Would occasionally catch bass on them. Pond fish with few exceptions are feeding on smaller forage. When in doubt, match the hatch
