Memorial day and not a single MLB game on ESPN or ESPN 2

With the NBA on the decline, MLB has a great opportunity to move into the second most watched league.
Yet there is not a single game on any network outside of MLB Network.
Why do these leagues want to keep people from watching their product?
Memorial day and 4th of July for the MLB should be like Thanksgiving for the NFL and Christmas day for the NBA

I have to agree; Mansfield is turning MLB into a regional sport like the NHL.

I think a lot of it has to do with individual teams having contracts with regional cable companies for broadcasting games.

ESPN spent 90 trillion for the rights to a shitty NBA
They are going to do anything and everything to try and prop it up even if it means talking NBA gossip right over another event

Meanwhile, ESPN opted out of its $550MM/yr contract for Sunday Night Baseball, the HR Derby and Wild Card round and offered less than half of that for an extension.

Bobby Baseball is on but it's on here in KC locally.

It's been this way for years. ESPN wants nothing to do with MLB. That's why this is their last year airing games. A lot of your scorn falls upon ESPN.

I like how you think the MLB has say in what ESPN airs.

If people were watching, ESPN (Disney) would have made a much more aggressive offer to MLB.

I'd rather watch the Wizards vs the Jazz than any MLB game in May.

If the ratings were that poor, Roku and Apple would'nt be picking up the slack.

The worldwide leader has been pushing back from MLB for years.
No one else has stepped up on a national level.
Much like no one pays attention to the nba until Christmas, no one pays attention to mlb until after the all star break.

I think ESPN only has Sunday night games, but I was disappointed Fox, FS1 or TBS didn't at least one game today. I watched the Rangers lose 1-2 to Toronto this afternoon on Victory+. Hard to believe the Rangers have wasted so much great pitching this year.

They do this every year.
