It’s for those that died in service. It’s not for veterans or those currently in the military. A lot of people think it’s for them. No sir. This isn’t your day. It’s for those that gave all. This is their special day for us to remember them.

Honor Memorial Day for it’s true purpose.

I’ve had about a dozen texts today thanking me for my service. It’s annoying but I just say thank you instead of correcting people for trying to do something nice and thoughtful.

I think I need smarter friends so it’s probably on me.

You mean it's not for the short tubby guy that jumped in front of the long line at the RaceTrac yesterday wanting asking about veteran discounts on his 60 oz. Coke? He missed the memo. I hate those frickers.

I agree that it’s annoying when people don’t get the difference. But I’ll never fault anyone for honoring a veteran on any day.

Vets I know always say they appreciate the support and leave it at that to not sour the mood of those who don't fully understand Memorial Day.

OBAMA: On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes — and I see many of them in…in the audience here today — our sense of patriotism is particularly strong.

RUSH: Now, a lot of people say, ‘Rush, don’t harp on this. He’s just trying to be nice.’ Look, I wouldn’t harp on it if this wasn’t gaffe number one million. I don’t think he knows what Memorial Day is. We honor the dead who have served the country; they can’t possibly be anywhere where Obama sees them. (interruption) Yes! What do you mean…? Do I mean what? I don’t think he understands. I think he probably confuses Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Memorial Day he probably thinks we’re saluting all veterans, and that we do it again on Veterans Day.

Couldn’t agree more - we’ve got Veterans Day. Today is about honoring and remembering our war dead. I’d also include the many combat veterans who die by suicide.

No, but tomorrow you can thank me for the taxes I pay to support the military. Which I’m happy to do for them.

I hate the greeting “Happy Memorial Day”. This is a day to remember those who gave all. There is nothing happy about it.
