Shouldn't they first do the time for their crimes then deport them?

Depends on if you believe removing them from society is a greater goal than punishment/rehabilitation. The plane ride is way cheaper.

It's cheaper and less time consuming to bribe them to leave with cash and a ticket back to the shithole where they came from.

ok i get the cost of incarcerating them. Just seems like the message we are sending is sneak in, commit crimes, get off scott free and get a free ride home.
If it were an american in a foriegn country, they would be put in jail.
Personally i would prefer to see a holding facility similar to El Salvador for the criminals. This would be a deterrent.
Then for the rest who are here illegally. a holding facility like the AZ sherriff had with tents out in the dessert. Again a determent for them to fear coming here again till they are processed for deportation.
We have seen the same illegals cross the border numerous times. Make it as unpleasant as possible to send the message you will suffer coming here illegally.
