Ram Trucks Teases Big Reveal for June 8th

Things are heating up at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP) as Ram quietly begins pilot production of two major 2026 Ram 1500 models—the return of the 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 and the debut of the all-new Ramcharger electrified truck.

REPB stands for Range-Extending Paradigm Breaker, the internal name for the new Ramcharger. Unlike a fully electric truck, the Ramcharger uses a 92-kWh battery pack and a 130-kW generator powered by the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. The V6 doesn’t turn the wheels—instead, it acts like a power station, generating electricity for the motors. Ram says this setup offers 690 miles of total range, 663 horsepower, and 615 lb.-ft. of torque, with a 0–60 mph time of 4.4 seconds. The Ramcharger also leads its class with a 14,000-lb towing capacity and 2,625-lb payload rating.

Meanwhile, the mysterious “F15 Pilot” refers to something more old-school: the 5.7-liter HEMI® V8. Internally codenamed “Eagle,” the engine shares its name with the F-15 Eagle fighter jet—classic Chrysler code language. This confirms that Ram is moving forward with the HEMI’s return to the lineup after a short hiatus.
The HEMI will come paired with the eTorque mild-hybrid system, using a 48-volt battery and belt-driven motor generator to improve efficiency, assist with torque delivery, and enable auto start/stop. Power will remain at 395 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque.

I'm glad Ram is brining back the Hemi. It was stupid to get rid of it in the first place. I don't think people will appreciate all new Hemis being tied to the etorque system. Since the EPA did away with the auto start requirement - a feature that no one asked for and nobody likes - not sure why the trucks would even need the etorque. Unless they're adding more to the etorque system other than assisting with taking off from a stop when the auto stop is engaged.
The Ramcharger is odd. Not a true EV, but not really a true hybrid. It annoys me that the took the name of the venerated RamCharger SUV from the 70s for a stupid electric truck.

This has to be the dumbest shite I've heard of. Why not just put a generator in the bed instead of wasting a perfectly good engine just to charge the batteries.

its a true EV with a generator to extend range. Its a badass truck and the tungsten edition will be baddest truck to ever hit the road. Im getting one. nobody seems to make a truck anymore than can go 1-200k without blowing an engine or transmission. I havent heard of many issues with EV related to drivetrain failures.
also glad the hemi is back.

You realize it’s the same thing right? Except they plan to mount the engine and generator under the hood where it belongs?
The owner can run EV and plug it in at home. When they go on long trips the gas motor and generator is there to recharge the battery in case there are no chargers around.
That would work very well for me. I’d prefer that setup to a full EV like the Silverado EV, Ford Lighting, or Cyber truck. It’s the instant power and silent running of an EV with the security of having a gas generator in case I need it for long trips. It’s an upsized version of the Chevy Volt or a downsized General Motors-EMD locomotive Not saying I’d trade my vehicle in for one, but the next time I need a truck I’d prefer a Ramcharger style architecture to a full EV or an increasingly complex/over regulated gas truck.
The only dumb thing in this equation is the lack of charging infrastructure and the government push for full EV before we are ready. That and the fact that they are using the Ramcharger name on a pickup when people are begging for more retro-off road SUVs.

I will trade my 2019 in for one of these if there aren't a bunch of glitches

Is this going to be a truck or a full-size 2 door SUV like the original?

Finally.
Daxton’s hitting coach will be needing him in Boca Raton in June.
We’ll need a way of conveyance.

The 5.7 never went out of production right? They killed it in the Ram but it’s been available in the Durango the whole time.
Wonder if they just need to increase production capacity or if they adjusted the design.
The Charger and Ram truck fans will both be happy. I want to see that motor in the Wrangler Unlimited.

Bring back the Dakota and make it cheaper than Ranger and Colorado = profit

What. Just put a damn normal motor in there.

This would be great.
But they are steering those buyers into the Jeep Gladiator. That’s a nice vehicle but it’s not the same.

True
But it’s the smoothest start I’ve ever felt.

Exactly. Bring back the Old Ramcharger and Prospectors. Take my money. I still have the Ram hood ornament from the one I learned to drive on.

They made a mistake of bringing back a full sized SUV under the Jeep brand. Ram would have made more sense, and RamCharger would have been a decent name.

If it doesn’t 100K I imagine this will sell pretty well.

Not even Toyota anymore apparently.
That said, the ZF 8 speed in the ram pickups are very good. It's the I-6 twin turbo motor that I'd be worried about. They are remedying that somewhat by bringing back the V8.

This would be like how a cruise ship moves now... the engines power electric motors which turn the propellers/azipods , or like a locomotive too
