1) Being the SEC champion might help LSU get a better seed for the NCAA tourney and maybe jump Arky. Higher seeds have an advantage over lower seeds, in general, however slight.

2) Winning the SEC tournament title is still a pretty cool thing.

You don't get to be the SEC Champ just by winning the SEC Tournament.

Win 2 games to guarantee, without question, a top 8 seed. Beating TAMU won't impress anyone.

Meh

Being top 8 is all that matters. LSU will be somewhere 3-6 no matter what

Always a good thing when you win the Todd Peterson invitational.

Oh I totally agree... but being the SEC Champs by winning the tournament isn't accurate.

LSU is a top 8 seed despite tomorrow’s outcome.

3.) Because it matters to Tiger fans especially those that travel to it.

Exactly right, but for many years broadcasters do not distinguish between winning the sec championship for the regular season and winning the sec tournament. They love to refer to it as a championship. Then some folks too easily forget the difference.

It’s nice that LSU would only play 3 games Friday through Sunday. People in the past say they want LSU lose quick so they don’t kill themselves playing 5 or 6 games in a weekend trying to win the tournament.

This season it’s a normal weekend for LSU. They can handle the tournament like a normal weekend without having to wear themselves out. You can play to win it.

Top 8 seedings have already been determined. This tournament is meaningless. It only gives fans something to brag about if their team wins it.

Yes indeed this is a blessing! Top 4 seed is the only way to roll.

It’s not entirely meaningless. RPI changes could make a difference for a club or 2 or 3.

That, and I'm not entirely sold on Auburn being a national seed.

They've earned a host, but they're still under 40 wins overall, finished 6th in the SEC.
There's such a thing as "SEC fatigue"; the committee might be looking for a reason not to give the SEC 6 national seeds. Going 0-1 might give them that opening.

Also, I think Tennessee could conceivably play themselves into hosting, and Kentucky might be in trouble of dropping out.
