Great band. Scott Weiland had one of the best voices for rock !

Hell, yes. STP is easily my favorite band of their era. Their albums are far more stylistic and varied than those from their peers. Weiland was a magnificent frontman. He was charismatic and stylish with an amazing voice. Their music videos were always well done and the band members always looked the part of rock stars. We were lucky to have STP.

They weren’t virtuoso musicians & Weiland didn’t have the greatest voice but they just put out great song after great song. Amazing live band. Probably the best show I ever saw at the legendary State Palace Theater.

Saw them in 1994 at UNO on tour for "Purple". Redd Kross and Meat Puppets opened for them. Crowd wasn't feeling the opening acts at all. STP brought it though - played a lot of Purple and some of the hits from Core. They were awesome live and I agree, they had a unique style that set them apart from the rest of the rock/grunge-ish scene of the mid 90s.
Side note: Rick Beato's interview with Robert DeLeo is terrific if you haven't seen it.

Not just best voices but stage presence too.
Dude was a natural live.
Paired w/ the DeLeo brothers, they were awesome.

Just a solid rock and roll band….
Good musicians, charismatic, a bit of risk with any show

Um Dean and Robert absolutely are. Eric is a very simple drummer but does the job. The rest of the band is/was top notch.

Saw them at State Palace the first show STP did after Weiland got out of rehab. Earlier the day of the show me and my buddy saw him at Harrahs playing the roulette wheel with his supermodel gf. Was a great day. CSB

They were good until they made the Tiny Music album. Don’t know what happened to his voice, but it was a lot different

Interstate Love Song is one of my favorite songs of all time

I was before grunge's time and it's not my style, but this guy has an amazing voice for his stuff.
Curious, who do you think does have the greatest voice?

Hell yes they were. Their chord progressions and basslines were brilliant. Dean’s chord voicings were insane. I know Robert wrote a lot of the guitar parts too like Plush.

Its bad enough AIC are labeled Grunge by some people but STP absolutely weren't.
They weren't even from Seattle, they just get lumped in because of the time frame.
Robert and Dean were 100% rock music writers.

Yeah before heroin. After heroin he was awful, Staley level junkie 2.0. His wife, mother of his kids, wrote an essay for I believe Rolling Stone that lays all that out. Not a good guy.

My favorite STP song, love the bass line.

STP was the best 90's band by a sizable margin.
