I have no idea why he believes that. He’s uneducated, but thinks he’s really good at doing research.
He also believes the following:
1.) The moon landing didn’t happen,
2.) The 9-11-2001 terrorist attacks were orchestrated by the U.S. Government
3.) The Nile River in the Bible is actually the Mississippi River because the Mississippi River has 7 outlets (this is especially dumb because the number of rivers inlets changes over time and also nothing else in the Bible would make sense if this was true.
)
4.) All vaccines are bad.
5.) 10% of your 401K or IRA contributions should be invested in cryptocurrencies.
I love the guy because he’s loving and is a great dad to my wife, but the constant talk about conspiracy theories, the bad investment advice, and the uneducated comments get tiresome after a while.
Any of you guys have a family member like this?

I have a friend like that. He smokes enough weed to turn Tesla retarded.
He makes me laugh.

There’s a thread about COVID vaccines just a few posts down from here.

What’s his name and where does he live. Sounds like an OT get together is needed with this guy

Sadly, like the poor, we'll always have these people with us. Smartphones and Google have made people really really dumb while making them feel very very smart.

He’s probably correct on a couple of those
Also, why is he such a bear here? Got to pump that number way up imo

Problem is he didn’t “educate” himself.
He just gets fooled and manipulated over and over again by bozos on the internet who are posting false information just to get attention.

Let me guess, your father-in-law watches a lot of YouTube?

Sounds like he’s a good time and is probably disappointed in his daughter for marrying such a dork.

Is OP insinuating that there is a certain level of "education" that is required to do research?
Most of my contrarian ideas have actually stemmed from diving into .gov or .edu platforms. Perhaps I should get my $60k Women's Studies degree though before I chime in...
