SNL 50 Season Finale - Scar Jo/Bad Bunny

This is the strangest episode of SNL I may have ever watched. A bunch of WAY too long sketches, half-formulated ideas, and not good performances. Pretty sad that the best sketches of the night last few weeks have been the Trump impression by JAJ. He at least makes me laugh. Besides Weekend Update, this episode has been a total skip.
Cast that need to go:
Jane Wickline-one note, ugly, not funny
Mikey Day - enjoy him, but it’s time
Chloe Fineman - has she even been on the show the last few weeks?
Heidi - another one that it’s just time to go
Devon - does fine when he gets stuff, but obviously doesn’t write well for himself. His stand up is good, time to go back
Bowen - frick HIM
If Che/Jost are done, which I actually don’t think they are, Dismukes or Longfellow should have the first crack.
I think we’re going to see a huge cast turnover, and honestly, the show needs it.

Solid season. The good episodes were really good, the bad episodes were really bad, but the middle of the pack episodes tended to trend more good than bad. Scarlett is a top tier host but last nights episode just didn’t have it. The top episodes this year were - Jack Black, Lady Gaga, Nate Bargatze, Arianna Grande, Dave Chappelle, Martin Short, and Paul Mesca

First half of the season had some great hosts. Second half was a big drop off. I’ve barely watched it.
I don’t think the cast is the problem, mostly. Of course they need to get rid of Yang, Wickline, and a couple others. But based on the OP, it would seem like the big problem is the writing, which has been theater nerd dogshit for far too long. A good host can elevate the show enough for it to be good, or someone like JAJ who can just be funny regardless of the writing. But damn, if they had just decent writers, the show could be great.

Just recently discovered the joke swaps, those are outstanding

I don’t even know who any of those people are. Amazing. Back in the day , even if you didn’t watch the show, you knew most of the cast.

Che and Jost are the best part. My issue is they are 70% Trump jokes. We get it
It’s so copy and paste. They open with an anti Trump skit and it’s all weekend update is.
Yang has grown on me.

I will probably get downvoted into oblivion with this but I never found her overly attractive. Not sure if it’s when her hair is down or what, but sometimes her face is just very ‘off’.

Yall are crazy. I’d smash all day and night

This is my wife’s take.
I would bang the shite of her and love every moment. But obviously I can’t tell my wife. When my wife sees her and goes off on her , I just say things like, “Who is she?” “is she a movie or TV actress?” And “What has she been in?”

I’m not saying that I wouldn’t bangulate…..just sometimes something is off with her face.

Scarlett was very good. Bad Bunny was surprisingly good as a sketch artist.
The sketches were hit and miss. The please don’t destroy was great. The monologue was good. The newscast was good. Weekend update (especially the joke swap) was very good. Others stunk. The cold open was lazy. That’s typical.
It was not the best ever, but it was not bad either.
SNL does need to streamline.

Watched her on the update skit and it just seemed to me she felt very awkward and uncomfortable. Sounds like they thought this was a great idea in the writing room, but she just wasn’t having any of it.

The Walton Goggins episode should have been epic, but they really mailed it in on that one.

The joke swap on Weekend Update was great.
But yeah, 80% of WU was just Trump commentary / jokes. SNL spends way too much time on Trump. I think every cold open this season, except maybe 3 or 4 out of 20, all featured Trump.

Chloe and Heidi are funny, but Sarah Sherman is the funniest woman on the cast.
