I don't think people understand how much raw power this requires to smash a ball at this level.
Dude took an 0-2 breaking ball and literally hit it over trees behind centerfield wall.
Is it time to have the conversation if he's got the most power ever at LSU?
Outside of Lyle Mouton and Albert Belle who else is on the conversation?
X LINK to ball hit over trees to dead center
X Link to his 452' over the batters eye vs Tennessee

Pucker up! Pucker up! LSU wins it-- with a 6 run comeback in the ninth

He would shatter lsu record if he stayed 4 like the 2 ahead of him

Any 0-2 pitch hit for a towering home run is special... that's one of the rarer plays in baseball

You’d have to put one of those late 90’s bats in his to gauge this

Jesus imagine his numbers with those bats and how far the Tennessee homer would have went

Brandon Larson, in the live bat era, could hit tape-measure shots.

Joey Belle, Lyle Mouton, Brandon Larson, Brad Cresse, Matt Clark, Greg Deichmann, Tommy White, Jared Jones

I think almost everyone understands it. When Jones catches one everyone watching immediately bolts upright with eyes wide open. It looks different from almost all the other HRs.

Powerful no doubt. The bats were not the same in the 80’s like Belle and Jim Bowie hit with. Then there is a huge difference in the balls. If you’re going to compare, don’t do it with Apples and Oranges. Find the hardest hit balls with the true BBCor bats and that’s the person you no compare him with and not these bats and balls. Look no further than the material and bat handles from when the bats today. The ball is a minor league ball that is also harder.
I don’t understand why people think being big and strong equates long HRs. Mickey Matle was 5’11” 180 lbs and hit balls further than you would imagine hit with wooden bats. Bat speed has as much to do with it as strength.
Griffey Jr was 6’2” 230 and strong as heck, but many argue it was his incredible bat speed that was behind his HR power.

Greg Deichmann swinging the green light saber was impressive.
Jim Hawthorne would all but recommend people not to drive on Nicholson when Eddie Furniss was batting.

I talked to an LSU pitcher who gave up one grand slam in his career. It was to a USCe hitter (I think), about 18 years ago. The hitter played a long time in MLB. He had a 3-1 count with the bases loaded. He told me, “I said ‘frick it!’ and threw it right over the fat part of the plate.”

If he had the same bats they did in gorilla ball days it would be insane with him

Those were not as far as some of the guys in the early to mid 80’s. Jim Bowie hit a ball that ended up resting against the curb at Bernie Moore near the track part of the parking lot not Nicholson. Saw it with my own eyes.
Why keep posting shite when the balls are also different as well as these bats have DRAMATICALLY improved over the last few years from material. Like it or not, these aren’t the same BBCore bats. And certainly without question the balls have lower seams and are harder. They changed them to help with runs after the dramatic fall off during the first part of BBCore.
