The plan was a long term hold after the shooting brought on a dip.

I only have like 10k in it, but would prefer not to lose it all.

I know I would just hold and figure the big damage is done.. and I believe they made money and are planning on back to growth next year..

So based on my past experience the obvious correct answer is sell asap

Fwiw I have aarp united healthcare plan g… in they are a Hugh company with a significant piece of Medicare ..aarp clients.. and went big time into Medicare advantage.. I believe they had significant underestimated the amount advantage clients were going to cost and had problems managing cost there.. I know people that went on advantage and it is a very aggressive cost management structure and often people get denied ..

I have heard horror stories about the advantages programs regardless of the company.

Which is comical given he told someone on mad money just last month to go with Humana over UNH because its problems are uniquely specific to itself. …HUM is only down 20% this month

How much are you down? Sell, take the proceeds and purchase ASTS. Thank me later in 2030 when it multiplies 10-fold.

I don't see them going out of business.

So no point in selling at a loss unless you want to tax loss harvest or you NEED CASH NOW.

Think “not been notified” is some legalese for DOJ leaked this to the news but UNH hasn’t received official docs yet. Just some tap dancing to try to make the weekend and a news cycle reset.

Ask yourself "would I buy it today?" If not, sell. If so, hold and perhaps buy more. Sunk cost fallacy is a bitch.

Pre-Market today suggests "blood bath" today.

Pre-market 287.80 -20.21 (-6.56%) 07:41 ET

Buy? Some analysts view the recent ~22% stock drop as an overreaction to short-term issues, creating a buying opportunity. From some sites I use:

Market Beat - Moderate Buy.

According to the 24 analysts' twelve-month price targets for UnitedHealth Group, the average price target is $523.52. The highest price target for UNH is $700.00, while the lowest price target for UNH is $350.00. The average price target represents a forecasted upside of 69.78% from the current price of $308.35.

TipRanks-Strong Buy

Based on 25 Wall Street analysts offering 12 month price targets for UnitedHealth in the last 3 months. The average price target is $540.68 with a high forecast of $677.00 and a low forecast of $440.00. The average price target represents a 75.54% change from the last price of $308.01.

Either a bunch of analysts that know more than I do are wrong, or it's viewed as a long-term buy.

I'm not personally because I still have too much of it and am sweating bullets as I just entered retirement. Only logic is to hold it probably and hope it rebounds. As noted in another thread, my basis is $221, and if it gets near that, I might sell around $250 (hoping not!). For newer investors, maybe consider a gradual entry (dollar-cost averaging) at current levels, given the attractive valuation and analyst upside targets. The 2.7% dividend yield provides income while waiting for recovery. However, allocate conservatively due to near-term risks.

For amusing, and sometimes telling insights (often from current and former employees), check out The Lay Off site or the notes on Yahoo Finance- Community.

If you’re holding LT, Allocation needs to be a small % , something you can forget about, won’t monopolize your time.

It may bounce soon. Or, You may be holding this sucker for 10 years.

Trading at less than 10x earnings. Historically UNH trades at 25 earnings. Bought 20 shares just for shitz n giggles.

UNH is being investigated for Medicare Fraud.
If convicted the will no longer be eligible to serve Medicare/Medicaid Customers. and probably Market Place customers.
If found guilty they will be lucky not to go out of business, let alone be a good buy.

Good Luck
