Happy to see Frey doing well after overcoming injury and adversity. He easily could've transferred after minimal playing time last year, but remained loyal to LSU and patient for his opportunity to contribute. A solid kid, and true Tiger.

Hot bat. In his last 7 games played:
.450 BA, 11 RBI, 3 HR

Jay on Frey's journey:
quote:

He's the man. He's literally handled everything, success, failure, injury, role about as good as you possibly can. And he has talent. When you have that kind of maturity with that kind of talent, I wouldn't even call it a breakthrough, success was always going to be there. I have high opinions of a lot of guys in our program and none higher than Ethan.

I wasn't a big fan of his at first, but he has earned everything this year. Looks like he was battling injuries his first couple years.

He's also built like a brick shite house.

If you listen to interviews with Frey, I don't know if he was ever thinking about transferring. Dude loves LSU! It was just a matter of being healthy.

He was set to break out last season but then injured his shoulder on that dive back into first and was never the same afterwards.

His home-road splits are insane. Would be great to see him produce against SC's lefties this weekend.

Big time respect for Frey! In this age of college athletics somebody in his spot the last few years transfers 10 out of 10 times.

Damn right he’s a big Boy, I like having Big Brutes on the team
Paul M never had to many but he did have good players I think Jones was Paul’s recruit. Chicks dig the long ball!

You consider Rosepine CENLA?

I certainly don’t. It’s West LA or northernmost portion of SWLA. I think CENLA and I think Alexandria/Pineville

Is he truly a small town kid? Or a military brat?

Love seeing a small-town LA guy like Big E doing well.

ETA: would love to see him back & at 1B next season.

I had the opportunity to meet him recently. He is a really solid young man, on and off the field. I wish him the best.

There's no way a boy from Rosepine, Louisiana could ever leave LSU voluntarily.

He would never be allowed to step foot within the town limits again...

Love the season he’s having for some of the same reasons you listed. I told my son before the season started, assuming he’d be batting right behind jones,, that jones could have a monstrous year if Frey gives him protection.
