MSY parking tips

First time flying out of MSY this week for 4 day trip. Seeking best parking suggestions as I vaguely remember issues with parking.

Honestly check the flymsy website for real time parking availability. Short term is my go to for ease. My wife prefers long term. Both are steps away from the terminal. After that you have the surface lot and economy. The economy lot is at the old terminal and is cheaper but adds time to/from the terminal. If you can afford the extra $50 pick short or long term. If you are on a really tight budget go economy and arrive a bit earlier.

Short term or economy. Never long term.
If you plan to go the short term route, make a reservation ahead of time.
If you plan to go Economy, the entire process should take less than 30 minutes from the time you park your car and you have the ability to check your bags right there in the garage and skip the entire counter at the terminal.

Don’t disagree with any of the above, but I’ve always had luck using the surface lot. Granted it kind of sucks in summer with heat and potential rain but it’s an underused and convenient lot.

I really like US Park. You can reserve a covered or uncovered spot and pay online. They constantly have shuttles running (pick you up at your car). It takes like 2 minutes to get from your car to the front door and you don’t have to lug a suitcase across a parking lot. When you get back, exit out of door 5 and they drive your right back to your car.

USPark all we use now. Pick you up and drop you off at your car. Drivers very nice.

Ditto. We used US Park at old terminal and continue to do so now for new terminal. It's extremely convenient driving in from BTR. Shuttles are so frequent that it can be a bit rushed for outbound people. Expect the shuttle to be at your bumper less than 60 seconds after parking. Coming back, we've never had more than a 5min wait at the terminal. Shuttles are rarely crowded.
Drivers and gate agents are polite and friendly... just local folks.
Last week I tried using short-term lot for a pickup which is free for 30min. I was not alone, but I'll do it again. Definitely beats the chaos of the pick-up lanes. You can drive through and wait, or park and go into terminal

I use short term or long term right at the terminal. Very easy and easy walks. IF you reserve a spot, be sure you do it MORE than 24 hours before the day you need to park. Online won’t let you reserve after that. You can check parking lot availability on this link.

me too. The folks at USP are very nice versus the MSY bus drivers are total dicks.
