Worked out pretty well tonight! Scares the shite out of me, but let’s ride!

If your boys are raking, you hold them up. This guy’s just happy to see a runner.

I'm okay with making them make the play.

Baseball 101 says run on contact

I think it also says to stop sometimes

The Milam send on Curiel's hit was not the percentage play (but it worked). The Jones tag was 100% the play, regardless of outcome.

Always a tough call. Worked against Arkansas but didn’t work against A&M

The A&M sends actually worked more than they didn’t, and they were probably more defensible than the Milam one today was. In hindsight we K’d back to back though, so holding him up would have cost us the game.

It does not

Worked 2 out of the 3 close calls last weekend.

OP was talking about all the times Jordan has windmilled them home, not just the walkoff

I get that. But the OP was also saying the decision to go on contact was the equivalent of those previous dubious waves. It is not the equivalent.

Its all about forcing the Defense to make the play. Sometimes it works, sometimes it dont.

With 1 out it and runners at 2nd and 3rd it absolutely does not.
With 2 outs the runner at 2nd will typically have a 2 out primary lead where he deepens and extends. He is typically looking to score on anything through the IF.
Edit: I’m referring to the Milam send from 2B.

Patrick Peterson has taken control of the third base coach.

In one game, I can’t remember which, he sent the guy home and the outfielder already had the ball in fairly shallow left field and our guy was just rounding third!
Fortunately, our guy scored.

Clearly he has been instructed to be liberal with sending runners. I’m ok with it because we are developing a reputation for it and that adds a lot of stress to our opponents. If it’s working out 2/3’s or better of the time keep it up.

Yet two different outcomes because Milam made an incredible slide to avoid the tag. Where as Jones on both his slides went directly for the plate.

Remember Bianco was our Third Base Coach for a really, really nice Tiger Baseball moment.
