Weird how competent people can make good content when they arent given a checklist of woke shite they have to cover

Is it worth watching if I don’t really give af about Star Wars lore, and have no intention of watching any of the other Disney side projects? Is it solid enough as a standalone piece of entertainment?

Absolutely.
It makes you not even care about jedi, sith, the force etc

Nice. I like solid stories, well told. Will give it a watch.

The initial 3 episodes are somewhat slow, but are important in building the tale. Nobody who has watched will regret those episodes, but at the time it makes you wonder if the show is going to be good.

I was all in on last season as well I’ve just been waiting for enough episodes in S2 to build up so I can binge it. I’m not caught up yet so I’ve been avoiding discussing it.

Do you have to know Star Wars to watch? I’ve only seen the original and one season of Mandolorian.

No. You can just know what the rebellion is and why it exists

You can consider it a sort of prequel to Rogue One, but that’s about it. Previous knowledge isn’t necessary.
If you WANT to watch everything that leads up, then the prequels and Clone Wars (both with and without the “The” at the beginning), but none of it is necessary.

100% this. Gave it up after the first three episodes. Came back to it a year later, pushed through and it ended up becoming one of my favorite Star Wars TV/movie, whatever, period.
Incredible writing. Haven't watched S2 yet. Was waiting until all the episodes dropped

No. You can just know what the rebellion is and why it exists
You just need to know a couple basic principles, which the show does lay out for you:
1) The Empire is an authoritarian government.
2) It controls most of known civilation in this galaxy; you can travel to other planets but "the Empire" is still present and in control.
3)The more involved it becomes in day-to-day life, the more it oppresses the population.
1 and 3 set the motivation for everyone in this story, on both sides. 2 establishes the futuristic sci fi tone.
It doesn't even really have to be "futuristic"; there were parts of Season 1 which strongly reminded me of the Troubles in Northern Ireland, and a lot of the overall is similar to Nazi-occupied Europe, and/or Communist controlled Central and Eastern Europe of the Cold War.

Its good but lets not over do it. This whole rogue one storyline really appeals to a subset of fanboys that probably need to take it easy with superlatives.

Rogue One is limited, true. It's ok and is very tied to right before Star Wars.
Andor the series is a different animal.

Don’t respond to that account. It’s somebody’s alter just designed to create argument. It isn’t even clever.

Not saying much, but I’ve heard enough unanimous praise to give it a shot in the coming weeks. Star Wars is so trash though lol
