I believe Grassley has to schedule something by today to make the deadline.

If Republican Senators Do Not Confirm Ed Martin as US Attorney for Washington DC – Dirty Judge Boasberg Will Pick His Temporary Replacement

Republicans face a May 20 deadline to confirm Ed Martin otherwise Judge Boasberg appoints his replacement. According to DeepNewz, if the Senate does not act by this date, Judge James Boasberg could appoint a replacement U.S. Attorney under a law that allows federal judges to fill vacancies that remain unoccupied for an extended period. Supporters of Martin, including conservative figures and activists, have urged Senate Republicans to expedite his confirmation to prevent Boasberg, perceived as a left-leaning judge, from selecting a successor. Some Senate Republicans, including Senators Bill Cassidy, John Cornyn, and Thom Tillis, have been identified as holding up the confirmation process.

If anyone on this board Come to the conclusion what a POS our group of Congress is look no further than creating a law allowing a federal judge to a point a prosecutor
Between giving all of their power away to the executive branch and a lot of power to the judicial branch our Congress has become feckless
This branch of government is figured out that doing nothing except campaigning and getting rich is the best way to go I cannot hate them enough

Cornyn should fall in line. Paxton will eat him for breakfast if he screws this up.

Reseating this a little more the law states the court may appoint an interim U.S. Attorney, not that it must. The Attorney General could appoint another interim U.S. Attorney, or the President could nominate a new candidate, resetting the 120-day clock.

Any reason why Trump can't simply fire the Boasberg appointee as soon as they're appointed?

How many times do we have to see these spineless Recucklicans hold Congress in totality and squander every opportunity to reverse the course of Dim Neo Marxism insanity that's choking the life out of the constitutional republic? It's almost as if the Recucklicans are controlled opposition.

True, but the rumor is Cassidy will run as an Independent if Fleming wins the Republican Primary this April. I was actually told this by a fellow well-connected in Louisiana Republican circles, but take it FWIW.
