Searched so SIAP.

Big news and a solid partner for them to choose. Troon over ClubCorp was smart, hopefully Troon can get the ship turned around and bring the course back to life.

Hopefully they clean shop and hire new people across the board. It won’t be easy for them to make it as a daily fee course. Hopefully Toon has some ideas for that clubhouse which has a to be damn near a money pit. My advice would be to get the course in better shape, hire new staff and turn it private once again. I think that may be the only way it survives - as a high end private facility.

If they got that course in tip -op shape, it could be a solid private club.

English turn is one of my favorite courses in the area. Hope it works out and they return to great shape.

Invited / Club Corp would have been a huge mistake. Does Poon Tang still own ET?
Such a great facility.

Agree. It's a fun layout. Always enjoyed playing it.

Just checked tee times and its $134 for weekday round and $164 for weekend. Sheesh - how long has it been this high? Been a year or so since I have played.

TPC a two weeks after the Zurich is running $139 on the weekends.

Can someone point them in the direction of St. Francisville?

I didn’t realize it had gotten that high either. Last time I played it I was on there for 70 bucks.

Maybe they’re trying to cut down on the traffic and go fully private.

It’s one of the few semi private courses remaining in the area that’s worth a damn. They’re killing public golf in this area. In no way shape or form should they make this a private course. It gets a ton of play and they still can’t keep it in good shape consistently.

They just need new management.

That’s for non residents. Using technology is difficult for some people

Troon took over Le Triomphe, and the members have been very happy with them so far.

Based on what? ClubCorp caters to their better clubs and English Turn would be one.

That’s because they can’t turn a profit at ET as a public course. You just stated that it gets a ton of play and is in crap shape. Why in the world would they continue to do that???

Explain to me how other courses seem to have no issue remaining semi private, getting the same amount or even less play, remains in decent shape and yet somehow doesn’t have these financial issues? Same price as other courses yet they’re failing and others are successful. It’s bad management. It’s just that simple.

Management is terrible over there and has been for a few years. The unique issue there is it is pretty inconvenient to access the facilities and they have like a 60,000 square foot clubhouse to maintain. Don’t think that it was ever meant to be a mid level public option with cheap membership dues for those wishing to join. It needs to be a high end private facility.

I get that. Their clubhouse is ridiculous and way too big. I obviously have a preference but with that being said, that course is in the middle of nowhere. I just don’t think this area will support a high end private club that is in that area. That neighborhood isn’t what it once was and it’s a hassle to even get out there. IMO they’d have the same issues if they made it private. ET has the best layout in the area imo and doing what TPC does imo would be pretty smart. Make the green fee pretty expensive, have members, offer some sort of Nola card for local residents that make it more affordable that has restrictions. I’m also not in golf management but it just doesn’t seem smart to make this an elite private course

I’m a member of an Invited Golf Club and they set the monthly dues to an absurd rate. English Turn would not have the Membership support in that area to make it financially viable. When I was a Member back in the day, Management/Ownership couldn’t afford to replace the slate roof.
