Trump better not Cave on this. He already gave the US Car Makers an exemption. If he continues to give the big companies exemptions but leaves the tariffs on companies who sell directly to US consumers like TEMU it is going to be framed and perceived as Trump helping his billionaire friends but trying to hurt US consumers. I am no fan of Temu and don't use it but the reality is the MSM will frame it that way if Trump gives exemptions to companies like Nike

Based on what they charge for cheaply made shoes, they can pay the tariffs and still be plenty profitable.

I especially don’t want these type of companies to get exemptions. They’ve been getting their good made cheaply in China then over charging Americans for those same goods.

I honestly don’t know. I’ve had the same phone at least since before Covid and I bought my phone instead of whatever they charge monthly.
Even if I did have a brand new phone, I still wouldn’t want an exemption given to apple. I’m a huge proponent of having 10 well made items in my closet instead of 100 pieces of cheap fabric poorly made. I have a pair of 15 year old Prada wool pants that look nearly brand new. I gladly pay more for good quality.

They have one. They got one on the first round of tariffs in 2018 which were 25%. They got one this round also.

The hope is that tariffs will also force some companies to change what’s become a bad habit for them that isn’t good for American consumers. Stop paying slave wages to have things cheaply built then charging the same price you would if you were paying American wages.
It’s gotten out of hand. It’s hard to find quality goods these days but the cost of items continue to climb.
