Danny Stutsman, LB, New Orleans Saints (No. 112)

Stutsman isn’t the twitchiest athlete, but he is a downhill thumper with plenty of experience. He has excellent size (6’3, 233 pounds) and was uber-productive at Oklahoma, racking up 36 tackles for a loss and eight sacks. Stutsman isn't a stiff in coverage either, but he's at his best when dropping into zones and reading the eyes of the quarterback.

Despite being a back-to-back All-American selection, Stutsman fell to the fourth round of the NFL Draft. However, he shouldn’t have any problem cracking the starting lineup soon for the Saints. He is an aggressive linebacker with the size and athletic traits to be an impact player right away at the next level. Look for him to play behind Demario Davis for a year before becoming a starter in New Orleans.

Our depth was severely lacking. This draft really filled some holes there

Yep. From 2019 to 2023 we have really drafted with a boom or bust mentality. While everyone drafted won’t pan out, I feel like this year and last year we drafted players that have a good chance of contributing as a starter or back-up.

I’m looking forward to seeing what this coach staff can do with guys like Ford, Stutsman, Means, Sanker, Matavao and Diggs.

I’ll throw a few shekels on Stutsman for DROY.

Exactly. We added some younger, affordable players with the potential (yes, some more than others) to contribute in 2025 & beyond. We'll see how it unfolds.

If we trade this guy he will be an automatic pro-bowler.
I want a Stuts jersey but I'm worried cuz when I bought the Hendrickson jersey he was gone before I took the tag off.

Yeah, but our starters really suck.

we certainly needed a LB. why i wanted to trade down and grab campbell.

I think he will turn out to be a good player.

He has boom/bust potential, like Reuben Foster was considered (minus off field issues)

Despite his athleticism and feel for the run game, he's often times a step late. If he fixes the instinctual part, he's gonna be so good, but I see where he's also no better than a rotational dude.

In a 34 package, this kid is gonna fricking eat.

Just imagine had we been more attentive with analzone and Baun.

If he's used right. Vaughn Johnson had a nice career.

Vaughn Johnson was a stud LBer, man, playing with 3 other talented LBers. But the Saints have had nothing but success at LBer imo with a few LBer draft prospects stepping up and having big seasons for them then moving on to big paydays with other teams. Players like Zack Baun, Kaden Ellis, Pete Werner, Alex Anzalone have all turned out to become solid LBers. I expect Anfernee Orji and D'Marco Jackson to follow the same route and step up. Stutsman is much more athletic than a Zack Baun and look what Baun did.

I used to see him at Elmwood, he would tell me he was going to knock out that week- Steve Young, Aikman. In the days before CTE-and he would do it, and laugh when he did it.
