Talked to some industry folks last night and they are telling me that Drago's has reached an agreement with Rip's to open a raw and grilled oyster bar under Rip's building.

Looks to me like they are seeing the success of Pat's Rest A While raw bar and decided to get in on the action.

Apparently the boyfriend (husband?) of the lady that now owns Rip's used to work for Cvitanovich which probably explains how the deal went through.

They said they are shooting for an early summer opening in the next month. Aggressive time line for sure.

Anyone else hear anything on this?

Great. Now we'll have shitty seafood and awful service on two floors of that building.

Dragos in Metairie is good. Or used to be. Been a while. The one in the CBD isn’t.

No but if they make them reasonably priced especially if good happy hours, we'll be there once a week or so.

Even the oysters have fallen off, and that is really all they had going for them.

If it lasts as long as the one in Baton Rouge, you'll have about 6 months to not enjoy Drago's.

Baton Rouge is akin to Hospice for restaurants

Hopefully it lasts longer than the one in Laffy.

That’s a shame. It’s been a good while since I’ve been. I saw online folks were saying they’d been disappointed lately. Jaegers over in Elmwood had decent charbroiled, but it’s been a few years. Don’t know if still good.

Had theirs and Acmes oysters at the Zurich. Both were pretty bad, but Acmes were far better. I was surprised.

Where did you get Acme's oysters? And Drago's blows theirs out the water IMO, even thought though the ones I had at Zurich on Friday were admittedly not the best.

Drago's does one thing well and its the charbroiled, and traditionally they do them very well. The rest is pretty dogshit.

ACME's are not good at all in my opinion, terrible even. Felix's are a lot better than they should be imo. They are really solid.

I was excited when Drago's came to BR, after holding a meeting for 12 there, maybe 4 more visits, I gave up. Metairie stands as the only Drago's that I enjoy, apparently the concept does not travel well.

I didn't say that, I like the grilled oysters, cremated? I'll pass. I'll be surprised if the BR location actually re-opens, they weren't exactly killing it.
