I've Never Seen Casablanca- Update page 3

I'm aware of some scenes like Here's looking at you kid, and Play it again Sam. I'm afraid to watch the movie because of all the universal praise and hype, like if it's not the best movie I've ever seen I will be disappointed.

It’s 100% deserving of the hype it gets. Just a perfect movie.

i watched it for the first time within the last three or four years, and it absolutely is worth the hype. it's good, man.

Fun fact: that's never said in the movie. The closest it gets is Ingrid Bergman saying at one point "play it, Sam".
I think it may get confused with the Woody Allen movie and play "Play it again, Sam".

Not all highly ranked movies appeal to all people. That is just human nature.
I find I like almost all of Humphry Bogart's movies with "The African Queen", "Casablanca", "The Maltese Falcon" and "Treasures of the Sierra Madre" leading the list.
Some highly ranked movies I have no love for are "2001-A Space Odyssey", Gone with the Wind", "A Clockwork Orange" and "Citizen Kane" to name a few.
All you can do is give it a watch and go from there.

It is, almost without question, the greatest major Hollywood release you have not seen.
I envy you.

Whoever did the lighting on Bergman deserved an award..
There's better examples and it's the whole movie , just thought I'd liven the thread up with these

Just watch it, so many fantastic scenes throughout the film

One of the greater movies ever made.
It's so good, the music is the theme song for every Warner Brothers movie.

If you appreciate older movies, you can value it as one of the best.

Never seen it either. I'd put my list of "never seen it" movies up against almost anyone

It's a great movie and is still talked about today for good reason.

I watched it and was blown away by how good it was.
I am mid 30s and I am not like a huge watcher of classic movies.
My wife put it own and in my opinion it exceeded the hype. I knew about as much as you did going in.

Yea I literally watched this for first time about a month ago or so.
I don’t usually watch old movies but I did enjoy this one. It was pretty good. Definitely worth at least one watch.
And I went into quite the rabbit hole after reading about Bergman. She is such a gorgeous woman.

Arthur Edeson was one of the very best of early Hollywood. Nominated for 3 Oscars - In Old Arizona (1929), All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) and Casablanca (1942).
He retired in the late 40s and lived until 1970. Outside of his nominated work, he also shot The Three Musketeers (1921), Robin Hood (1922), The Thief of Bagdad (1924), The Lost World (1925), Frankenstein (1931), The Life of Jimmy Dolan (1933), The Invisible Man (1933), The Maltese Falcon (1941) and dozens of others.
