Anybody study them? Most of them start with an awareness of being outside the body, followed by the archetypical lighted tunnel. Deceased relatives are often seen. The life review eems to be a universal feature. You're presented with a simultaneous review of everything you've ever done wrong, and how it affected the other person. There doesn't seem to be
any punishment attached to it other than the awareness of what you've done wrong. At that point or shortly is usually when the person is given a choice of going back or told that they have to.

Skeptics call it an artifact of the dying brain. Believers, including some scientists, say it's evidence that consciousness survives death. I'm undecided, but open to the possibility, although I wonder if it's just wishful thinking.

I’m dead emotionally. Does that count?

I was at a low point in my life and took too much of a substance I was using for "fun" at the time, and was probably dead for a minute. I was living in a country in the Far East and somehow woke up in the hospital after I stopped breathing in a taxi. When I came too, it was exactly like the scene when Tony Soprano snaps out of his coma. I heard a loud SNAP/CRACK sound and everything was white and then everything slowly came back into focus, as if I a had been staring into a super bright flashlight. The scary part was that I remembered smoking a cigarette in the taxi , talking, laughing, and how quickly it all came on. Just. a snap of the fingers and I was almost gone.

Not a tunnel for me but the Akasha hall of records and some of the others spoke to me about the history of my soul.

Those memories are highly contaminated by the time they are reported, by nothing else than the culture in which they occur. Most people now know what an NDE is supposed to be like, just like they know what an alien abduction is supposed to be like. This means that subjective reporting has to be taken with a grain of salt. What we need is hard evidence, and the hard evidence points to a brain phenomenon.

I get what they are saying in the article you posted. It does not explain what I experienced as a 7 year old 40 years ago. I had a long surgery and vividly recall hovering over my body during my surgery. I watched my surgery. I left my body. I wasn’t dead. But my consciousness sure the hell was out of my body. I hadn’t listened to Art Bell yet, so my mind wasn’t contaminated. Also, I discussed this with my treating physicians and parents immediately after surgery. So there is a contemporaneous record of it. Very strange.

There is a book called “Imagine Heaven” by John Burke. He’s a doctor who interviewed hundreds of people who had near death experiences. It’s a fascinating book and made me feel a lot better about death.

I’m 58 with some health problems. I’ve fought the big C Now I’m dealing with skin cancer and I’m in some sort of pain most days. I don’t tell my wife or family because I don’t want them to worry and I definitely feel my clock ticking. Been thinking about the other side a lot lately

Definitely points to consider. OTOH some experience things that are counter to their indoctrination, eg: fundamentalists expect a judgey judgment and it's not like that. Also worth considering that this often takes place when there's no brain activity as far as can be determined by current medical science.

Tank slapper in a corner around 130mph. Dropped a gear and pinned it. CBR1100XX still have it but haven’t rode in 4 years.

Studied no but had an out of body experience for a few seconds.

1987 day off work, drying cloths in an old dryer that only ran on high heat. ON/OFF was controlled by pulling the cord out of the outlet. Long story to the dryer but this was in South Tampa in Parkland Estates $$$$ at a Judges house. I guess no matter the occupation the coon arse wouldn't come out of the rich old man.

Anyway 18-year-old me is in the pool & the nephew to the Judge brings out a 1/2 gallon of Kentucky Gentleman and we start day drinking around 1030am. 2hrs or so go by & I remember my cloths. I pull up out of the pool not thinking, run into the garage & grab the plug while still soaking wet.

I was rudely introduced to 220 while standing in a puddle of water I created from the pool. I could not turn the plug loose. It had a solid grip on me, unlike anything I have ever experienced. I tried and tried to break free probably only a few seconds but I was consciously trying to let go/pull away and pow I was spun off like a ballerina. I'm now facing my friend that was staring at me in disbelief then laughing & pointing at me hysterically.

I was then in the rafters of the garage looking down at both of us. I was still standing bent over with my hands on my knees looking at him. Then I was back in body still looking at him thinking if I could move I'd kick his azz. Then I said to self, "brain you have to tell the heart to beat & lungs to breath." I was pretty much ruined around electricity for a long while.

Went down a rabbit hole studying negative near death experiences and it was quite scary. Like others, all stories had similarities that makes some of it seem true.
