Shamit clearly explains how much of a poverty franchise we are

Keeping Willie because we don’t want to pay his buyout
Hired Dumars because he’s friends with Mickey Loomis and he’s cheap
Never paid the luxury tax and won’t change anytime soon
It’s possible that Gayle is waiting to sell the team because all owners will get a huge check/bonus when the league adds a new team
We have the smallest front office in the league.
It’s becoming almost impossible to root for this team. Why should fans root for a team whose ownership clearly does not care in the slightest if we win or lose?

Once again, this is Shamit Dua not Shams (Charania). Vastly different people in terms of what they may or may not know.
However, this is a fairly scathing article

You got it wrong, I gently corrected. Learn to not be so sensitive and next time just say "My bad, corrected"
ANYWAY. This is the key part of the article to take away

It's not like other small markets haven’t seen success. Players, executives, coaches, agents, and family members universally rave about the Oklahoma City Thunder organization – the team with the best record in the league. Sources describe the Thunder as sporting the largest staff payroll in the league, both in quantity and salary per person. Their analytics department alone draws comparisons to major league baseball teams. Moreover, the Thunder go above and beyond to take care of their staff members, players, and anyone associated with the org. Families get access to top of the line concierge medical services. Even player agents get their hotels paid for visits during the playoffs if their client is on the team. The Thunder make everyone feel incredibly valued.
This is the model Dumars should replicate and be enabled to replicate: Elite staffing, premium facilities, and a culture that retains talent. Instead, Dumars enters the job with additional constraints: the mandates to trade Zion Williamson and keep Willie Green.
Multiple sources have relayed to me that fates of Williamson and Green have been sealed with the hiring of Dumars. Pelicans ownership was livid over Williamson’s recent off-court headlines. One person familiar with ownership’s thinking described this event as the straw that broke the camel’s back. This seems largely hypocritical given their public backing or pursuit of scandalous headline grabbers in Sean Payton, Deshaun Watson, and Alvin Kamara.
Nevertheless, they will be tasking with Dumars for fielding a return on the oft-injured star. It’s quite possible Dumars takes stock of the potentially frigid market and convinces ownership to give him one shot to work with Williamson. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Dumars is expected to “have candid conversations with star forward Zion Williamson on his direction with the team.” The situation can always change, however, I continue to hear Williamson is gone and Green is here to stay.
Multiple sources tell me that Green has virtually zero player support left in the locker.

Not a lie spotted in the article
It’s a wonder Pelicans have any fans left

Anybody that wants to buy a NBA franchise would pay that expansion bonus to Gayle above the fair value to buy today.
I doubt that’s a hindrance. Loomis and Lauscha are in her ear telling her not to sell so they can reap the benefits when she dies.

They really just do not give a frick about the franchise, and want people to just be happy they are keeping the team here.
When everyone, from agents to players to coaches to execs talk about how bad of an organization it is, to how mickey mouse it is run...
And you see how the Thunder are run...
Man it sucks to see.

I have heard this from two reputable sources in the front office.
The NBA will either get a new arena deal before 2030 or they will leave. The State is searching for a potential NHL franchise to share the arena expense, but its likely not happening. There is no transition plan for the Pelicans like there is for the Saints. Zion was the last hope to make it work and it didn't. They realize that now. It's time to market the team for sale.
Dumars coming here is somewhat equitable to when Shinn couldn't sell the team and the NBA took control. Its the beginning of the transition. I think Benson was fine to keep the team because it always makes money, but now its time to make a large investment and neither she nor the State is willing to do that.
Look we could get #1 draft pick - Zion could find Jesus - Herb could get DPOY - Trey could be an All Star - MIssi becomes the center we always wanted - all this could change next season, but we keep playing the lottery and losing over and over and over and the general consensus is that we are just unlucky.

If you run a trust, which Lauscha and Loomis will do upon her passing, you can take a hefty fee for yourself to do so. Larger the Trust, larger the fee you can justify
Getting 300 million extra dollars between two expansion franchises added to her coffers, as well as possibly 7-10bn between two teams (more the longer she holds out)...
That is some hefty self payments for those two

No it's not.
The decision to not care could not be easier with this franchise.
Come on NHL......... No way on earth it could possibly be as pathetic as the Pelicans franchise.

And how many other organizations are ran that way? That article was a bunch of bullshite with specific comparisons made to make the organization look as bad as possible.

Some are ran poorly, some are ran well. Some owners are notoriously cheap, some are known to be lavish
It is consistently said in league circles with agents, players, coaches, execs, and journalists that the Pelicans are the worst ran team in the league.
They have the worst Arena, the worst facilities, the smallest Exec staff, the smallest scouting department, smallest analytics department, smallest training staff.
If everyone says it, at a certain point we have to acknowledge the reality of the situation

Gayle does the bare minimum when it comes to investing in this team. Some of our fans think she’s doing more than what she actually is in comparison to the rest of the league because of how awful George Shin and even Tom Benson were.

And Mac fairly made this point the other day, more fair than he usually is.
He said Shin was far worse, one of the worst owners in all of sports for all time.
So people compare Gayle to that. But Gayle is still not a good owner.

If you have an IQ above 90 you do not need a comparative article to make the organization look as bad as possible.
With every move they do that themselves.
