His high school coach at Power Memorial was steering him to St. John’s; but after the coach used the “N-word” to describe a couple of black players, Kareem and another Black teammate were so upset that they went out and smashed some windows. Hello UCLA.

Of course, the "Friends of the program" had nothing to do with him going to UCLA... None at all.

Alcindor was going to whomever paid him the most, just like all the other UCLa greats. All other stories are just fairytales.

Kareem is like Hank Aaron in that he's an underrated legend. You can make a real argument he's the best player in NBA history - he's no worse than third greatest.

I maintain that he was the difference in those Laker/Celtics series from the 80s. He was a cheat code.
