25 years as a contractor and now that i'm out i'm finally renovating my own house LOL. over the past months ive already replaced all the windows and doors, HVAC equipment, roof, soffit & fascia and living room/bedroom ceilings

time for the kitchen. house is 50 years old, i cant tell if these are the original cabinets or not but they have given their all for rock and roll...time to go

it took me and a friend all day to demo them...they were field built (not boxes) so we basically had to wrestle them apart. lots of sawzall time.

it was pretty gross behind the cabinets on the wet wall as expected, but no rot or mold, i was waiting to see what the condition was before i made the call on the drywall, obviously it needs to be replaced

tomorrow i'll clean up/re reroute the power and water i need for the new DW and sink/disposal and get rid of the 30A whips that were for the stovetop and ovens, then spray with bifen and close back up with purple board.

new cabinets will be here monday

What windows did you opt to go with?

Looks like a lot of air movement under the window on the left but overall not bad.

Either replace the insulation or make sure that it is stapled to the studs.

Re-use the 30A circuit for an additional 20A in the kitchen or fridge circuit.

yes i'm maxed out in that panel so i can use the circuits elsewhere, which is good. i'm going propane on range/oven. i am adding a big freeze dryer in the laundry room so one of those circuits will be for that

I'm very hesitant just because of the number of windows we have.... which is believe is around 21. That cost will be HIGH.

laundry room

got the rest of the drywall off in the kitchen, i've decided tp close up with durock so i have a couple pros coming to do this fpr me.

moved the fridge to the laundry room. i've got a new one coming later.

demoed the base cabinet in the laundry room and the little bathroom that was in there for some reason. i opened the door to that bathroom yesterday for the second time in 20 years

“Instead of a new kitchen, we decided to demo everything and install a set of clawsfoot soaker tubs.”

I can't believe his wife let the sex deck get built before the new kitchen

ETA Looking forward to seeing the finished product!

never ever attempt to do what you can hire a professional to do in 1/4 the time and 10x the result
