I’m glad to hear it. I know the Thompson twins said it was the worst arena to play in

State is only wanting to put up $300m. It needs to be demo’d, not renovated. Tear down Champions garage and build on Lot3/3A and cleanse of all demons in SKC.

something needs to be done, the place really is a dump compared to other arenas I've been to like Orlando, Denver, Dallas.

Well with the opening of the clips new arena… it’s gonna have to be something pretty special with a shite tonne of money invested to make it the best in the league…

The state should put up ZERO dollars. Why waste money for an organization that isn't committed to winning, and has the worst owner in pro sports? Gayle is more interested in being an interior decorator , than putting out a solid product on the court. She needs to sell. NOLA is not even close to being a basketball city. Seattle is foaming at the mouth wanting a team.

Renovations aren’t saving the SKC. A new arena is needed. Everything about the SKC is just bland

The state owns the building. I’m all for Gayle putting up half, but she will just frick the fans in another way to recoup that money.

Ballmer has more liquid cash reserves than Gayle’s net worth. You can’t compare someone worth $117b off Microsoft to someone that never built worth and just inherited teams.

Yeah, if she hires Joe fricking Dumars in 2025, the state should just pull back support.

Renovating the arena isn't going to make the team better. Many knuckleheads refuse to realize she's a terrible owner that's more concerned about decorating than a commitment to winning. I don't get why some believe she's some sort of queen. She's nothing more than Rachel Phelps and Georgia Frontiere.

Didn't the Supersonics go away because that shite hole town wouldn't build a new arena. They aren't likely to spend money on anything but libtard crap

Edit: they did build one, name figures

Climate Pledge Arena

They would probably follow the same model as Atlanta. Their Arena was built in 1999 (same year as Smoothie King), they did a 200m reno in 2016. It did pretty well and it is considered one of the better NBA Arenas. But they are constantly putting more into it, to keep upgrading. You just can't do it every once in awhile.

If they put 300-500M into the arena, it would go a long way, especially if they focus on the fan experience. It's an encouraging sign that they are serious..

Tear down Oakwood Mall and slap an arena in its' place, easier to upgrade the highway for optimal access and not very far drive-wise from downtown..... If the new build wouldn't be downtown, anyway.
