Halfway through conference play. Last year at this point LSU was 3-12 and this season they are 10-5. Everyone would have loved to be 13-2 or 12-3 but baseball will happen.
Yes, most people are disappointed being swept. But for the most part this weekend the pitching was good enough to give LSU a chance every game. The hitting was abysmal and there was 38 fly outs over the course of the 81 outs in the 3 games. I would rather see the offense go cold now than in late may/jun.
This weekend summed up in 1 inning - runners on 2nd and 3rd no outs, and they couldn't push across ONE run.

Should we be excited we are better than a team that lost in regionals?

This year is Omaha or bust. Period. It’s not time to freak out but the expectations for this team are high

I figured they were going to probably drop a series sooner or later, them not winning today kind of made a statement of where they're at right now. They need to start being more patient swinging the bats. Watching them this weekend they're swinging at trash pitches. Jared Jones was way too aggressive swinging at junk all weekend. The pitching was fine the pitching was good enough to win

you can get excited or upset about whatever you want

I bet Alabama didn't expect to lose 2 of 3 at Auburn last week.

Last year LSU was fighting to even make the field of 64 and came within an out or two of hosting a super regional, a lot can happen.

Who would have bet that halfway through SEC play that the leading HR hitter would only have 4 HRs in SEC play through 15 games and it is Hernandez? And that Jones and Frey would only have 1 apiece in 15 conference games?

In 2023 we dropped back to back SEC series and lost to ULL AND Nicholls.

Then won the Natty.

It's April

And last years team failed to play in the super regionals.... so im not sure saying this team is better than one that failed to get out of the regionals is a flex

nowhere in the post did I say this team is better, just saying it is WAY nicer to not be sweating making the post season field of 64 like they were last season halfway through conference play

Last year we had the best teams in the front of the schedule. Now we face Alabama, Tennessee and Arkansas plus at A&M. This is a gauntlet

It’s always so easy to see who the baseball fans are vs who the LSU fans are. If you know, you know. Gottalotta ball left to be played

Spot on, and we’ll have a good chance to finish strong. This 2nd half is going to be more daunting, so I’m hoping like hell we can go 9 & 6 or better and finish with 19+ wins. The short-sighted rant types will be worried mostly with Tennessee and Arkansas, but I see the most dangerous series being at Texas A&M. Carolina is weak, BUT a finale there won’t be easy. If we should go let’s say 7 & 8 we could still earn a national seed by winning a few games in the sec tournament.

Auburn is a good team. Two weeks on the road will wear anyone down.

They will get it back together. 10-5 in the second half gets us a top 8. Calm your tits.

This is the 2nd series dropped.

That said, I expected to lose a game at OU and at least one mid-week by now, so sky isn't falling. 20-10 still possible

So are the expectation for the Dodgers and they lose series and even get swept some times. Auburn's season will end while LSU is still playing.

I never got the love for Jones. Sure, he can get hot a few games, but if people remember, he was an automatic out a lot of times last year. I was hoping he had turned the corner.

In 2023 we had the number one and number 2 MLB Draft picks. We also had Tre Morgan and Tommy White. They aren’t walking thru that door

Talent isn’t this teams problem. There’s no toughness or fight from this team when things get hard. This is the softest LSU baseball team I can remember in a long time.

10-5 halfway

All 10-5 records aren't created equal. LSU has a soft 10-5 in that all except one of the Tigers' wins are against filler SEC opponents, and LSU is 1-5 vs teams with a pulse. And looking at future conference opponents, it's hard to be optimistic per outlook-- teams like Tennessee, Arkansas and Bama, and A&M on the road, will probably clean LSU's clock.
