The entire 2025 NFL draft is average

Most people agree it’s a down year for QBs, but it also looks like a down year for every position. Sure there are good players, but not the numbers you’d see in other drafts. Some of the dudes you see in first round mocks I’ve never even heard of. Might not be a popular opinion, but if the Saints don’t have their guy I hope they trade back and get some 2026 draft capital.

Yeah I haven't really thought about it overall until yesterday listening to Dane Brugler on the Warren Sharp podcast. Every position group other than RB, DI, and TE was the same...."well there are lots of good players...not guys who would be picked ahead of their 2024 counterparts, but solid guys".
There don't appear to be any studs at: QB, WR, OT, CB, S. There are 2 OTs who are solid who may be elite OGs. WR and CB are laughable for top end talent outside of Hunter. Safety is barren. The off ball LBs who could be elite want to play edge at a lower level.
Even the edge guys aren't elite (and they're being hyped up)
It's just not a very talented draft this year, especially at the top.

This is a legendary defensive draft. Just because the receivers and qbs are not ideal doesn’t make this average. This years class is also loaded with tight ends and probably one of the best rb class in a decade. Just a silly comment.

Don’t appear to be any studs at safety? Yeah, starks, watts, and emmanwori aren’t good. Winston Jr is even good be a really good player. Also, the edge rushers are absolutely elite. What are you talking about?

No
Very deep DI
One very good (not elite) edge
One elite CB and a NB
Safety is pretty barren

You sound like a guy who is listening to draftniks hyping up this class
You sound like the guys saying Malik Willis was going top 5

There’s about 5 ridiculous pass rushers that are going tk be insane. Carter, Walker, Williams, green are all freakish prospects. The list can go on with high upside guys like Stewart, Pearce, scourton, ezaraiku. It’s as if some of you don’t even pay attention

I think there are three or four exceptional players, and a lot of high floor players. They might not be superstars, but likely won’t be busts.
I have a feeling that this is what we will start seeing in the draft going forward. With transfers and lack of development in college football, almost all drafts will end up with a handfull of stars and a bunch of guys with potential.

I agree he will never do it.

There isn't even a for-sure 2-way edge in this class. Carter didn't even do workouts, has a medical red flag, and is undersized. Has 1 year of production.
Walker has very little projection at run defense due to his height/arms. May end up better at OBLB (PFF doesn't even list him at edge for this reason).
Green is very undersized, didn't run, and played in a small conference. Has character concerns.
Carter could theoretically develop into a 2-way edge, but it's extremely unlikely that Walker or Green have the bodies to do so. They have a very hard ceiling for this reason.
Pierce, again, is undersized. Very fast straight line with no bend. Major character concerns. Would be off my board.
I don't think any of the guys listed above have longer than 33" arms.
You have to get to guys like Williams, Stewart, or Jackson until you hit 2-way edge potential. And neither are perfect, although clearly Stewart is the better prospect. I think the fact Stewart got so many pressures makes up for his lack of sacks (as pressures mean more than sacks). Clearly an elite athlete with the frame to do everything at edge.
Jackson is stiff, but should be solid. Certainly not elite.

No
There don't appear to be any "Freaks" outside of Stewart (who you didn't list)

It appears the RB class is deep just when RBs are devalued as a priority.

The football guys need to handle everything this draft. Keep Loomis far away.

Surely you see whether two aren’t very compatible?

4-5 really good nfl TEs. Great RB
class. Deep Dline class. Lite on WR, QB OT maybe top C.

I did list Stewart. You’re just too dumb to read. The fact that you just said Carter has concerns is comical. Been a long time since someone as twitchy and violent as him has come out. I’m not a Pearce guy, I’m way more concerned with his explosion but, his production can’t be denied.
Green? Didn’t play against high level teams? Did you see what he did to Ohio st last year? Who has 2 olineman that will go in the first 40 picks?
If you want to talk character concerns? Sure. If you don’t know this is an elite pass rushing and dline class you are a fricking retard plain and simple.
Not a good safety class? You’re a fricking retard. Starks is the best prospect at safety that’s come out in a few years.
Don’t realize the interior oline class is elite then you’re also a fricking idiot.
Qb? Garbage. Wr? Garbage.
TE? Elite class
Corner? Mediocre
Tackle? Mediocre class.

I don't understand how you guys say this draft class is bad and then say the Saints should trade back in the same sentence. If it's so widely known that the talent pool is lacking, why in the world would we expect anyone to trade up?

Every year there is the “trade back” crowd…who fail to recognize that in order to trade back it requires another team to trade up. If it is an average draft, what incentive does another team have to give the Saints significant value return to trade up?
