Taken down by unions
Or at least seemed that way. Never recovered after the strike.

I always heard Super Kmart killed it along with everyone else like walmart
Did they have this?
Don't know which location this was, but it kinda looks like Greenwell Springs

I was born in 1992 and don't remember it ever being open in my lifetime.

It was still open in the early 90’s.

I remember looking forward to grocery shopping with mom there.
Iirc there was another one off airline/jefferson near Sherwood intersection that is storage now.

Born in ‘83 and it’s a core memory. The lobster tank was the GOAT.

Was my first legal job at 16. Bagging and shagging carts in the summer. Loved getting those quarters from the cart when people weren't cheap asses.

And then you would leave there and try and score a Polo shirt at the Sam’s just down the road. Polos were very high at the time and for some reason Sam’s would have them every so often.

25¢ to get a buggy.
It was $0.25 to get a buggy unlocked, and you got your quarter back when you returned it and locked it back up. I remember going to the one in Lafayette as a kid and scouting the parking lot before we went into the store hoping to find an abandoned buggy that I could return, collect the quarter, and get myself something out of the little $.25 vending machines.

I recall a little movie room for kids. Did parents just drop kids off there unattended? I think there was someone hired to watch but not positive.

Wasn't that called Warehouse Food?

Loved going there with my mom. She would shop and I would head straight to the comic books. I would read a few then head to the lobster tank. After that, I would meet up with her and we would be on our way. I seem to remember that the cash registers said the dollar amount of the items you were purchasing. First time I ever saw that. This was probably 1985 -90.

Didn't go to the Superstore much, but did do remember going to Schwegmanns on Sherwood by Parkview with my Mom on Saturday's for grocery shopping.

Shoppers Fair was a big deal in my time.
My Uncle also owned a small grocery store/ C-Store on Winbourne across from Howell Park.

I posted this a few weeks ago. But I think they have some exteriors of that store in this reel of commercials.
